Consequences Of Assessment: What Is The Evidence?, William A. Mehrens
Consequences Of Assessment: What Is The Evidence?, William A. Mehrens
Education Policy Analysis Archives (EPAA)
Attention is here directed toward the prevalence of large scale assessments (focusing primarily on state assessments). I examine the purposes of these assessment programs; enumerate both potential dangers and benefits of such assessments; investigate what the research evidence says about assessment consequences (including a discussion of the quality of the evidence); discuss how to evaluate whether the consequences are good or bad; present some ideas about what variables may influence the probabilities for good or bad consequences; and present some tentative conclusions about the whole issue of the consequences of assessment and the amount of evidence available and needed.

Usability Of Visual Basic For Parallel Programming On Windows Nt, James Scott Barker
Usability Of Visual Basic For Parallel Programming On Windows Nt, James Scott Barker
Dissertations and Theses
Visual Basic is a very popular language. Many hardware engineers have learned Visual Basic because of its simplicity, but have never learned C or C++. Furthermore, people are choosing not to use C or C++ for business software development, but instead are embracing languages such as Visual Basic. Since one of the goals of the parallel programming community has been to encourage more widespread use of parallelism in software, this body of programming talent needs to be addressed.
This thesis intends to prove that Visual Basic can be used for parallel programming, that using it is at least as easy …

Vcu Voice (1998-07-13)
VCU Voice, 1988-1998
VCU Today, the University’s first official administrative organ, began as a somewhat irregular monthly publication but moved to a bi-weekly newspaper format in the 1980s. The newspaper changed its name to VCU Voice in 1988 and ten years later it appeared under the title UniverCity News. As it neared the end of its run as a physical newspaper, the publication became simply VCU News. These four publications were essentially the same periodical published under different titles by the Office of University Relations. VCU News appeared online for the first time in 2002.

Edward Carl Schlick was born in Newark, New Jersey in 1928 and grew up in nearby Kearny, New Jersey. His parents were managers, his father with United States Rubber Company and his mother with Dupont. His early interest was in art, which he originally studied at Colby College. Halfway through Colby, Schlick joined the Army. After being stationed in Japan for two years, Schlick returned to the United States and got a bachelor’s degree from the University of San Francisco. He did graduate work at Bates College and the University of Maine before becoming (briefly) a middle school teacher. In …
