Isoxsuprine is reported to be a peripheral vasodilator used in human and veterinary medicine to treat ischaemic vascular disease. In horses, it is generally administered orally to treat navicular disease and other lower limb problems. To deflne the scope and duration of its pharmacological responses after oral administration, 6 horses were dosed with isoxsuprine HCI (1.2 mg/kg bwt) q. 12 h for 8 days and then tested to assess the duration and extent of pharmacological actions. Caffiene, theophylline and theobromine are naturally occurring members of the methylxanthine family;pentoxfylline, dyphylline and enprofylline are structurally related synthetic pharmaceuticals. Caffiene has predominantly central nervous system effects, theophylline, dyphylline and enprofylline have predominantly bronchodilator effects, while theobromine is associated with diuretic responses. Pentoxfylline is thought to increase red cell deformability and facillitate blood flow through capillary beds. The methylxanthines are not highly potent agents; they are typically administered in gram doses and they tend to have relatively long half-lives. They remain detectable in plasma and urine for relatively long periods. Similarly, traces of the naturally occurring members of this family …

This work, in progress for five decades, consists of a summary revision of the legumes of the adjacent 48 United States. Treated are all known indigenous species, the commonly grown and weedy introductions, and some of the rarely grown species and waifs. The nucleocapsids purified from peanut plants systemically infected with peanut bud necrosis virus (PBNV), a member of the genus Tospovirus, contained both viral(v) and viral complementary(vc) sense L RNAs. Defective forms of L RNA containing ‘core polymerase region’ were observed. The full length L RNA of PBNV was sequenced using overlapping cDNA clones. The 8911 nucleotide L RNA contains a single open reading frame (ORF) in the vc strand, and encodes a protein of 330 kDa. A State-Dependent Model Of Forest Floor Development, Ertuğrul Bi̇lgi̇li̇

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

A state-dependent, dynamic forest floor development model is presented. The model considers litterfall as input. The decomposition of the litter was modelled as influenced by the quality of litter and miccroclimatic conditions (temperature and moisture). Microclimatic conditions were determined based on weather data and stand structure. The predictions of the model compared with an independent data set suggested that the model functions realistically under a range of weather and stand conditions. The resulting model should be valuable in the prediction of fire behavior.

With this study the effect of prescribed fire on the natural regeneration success of Lebanon Cedar ( Cedrus libani A. Rich.) by shelterwood method was investigated at Antalya-Kaş localitiy. Split plot design with three replications was applied as experimental design. Prescribed fire was applied to slash pile at one of each main plot while the other was left as control. Main plots were divided into two subplots and equal number of seeds were used at each subplot for additional seeding by applying broadcast seeding (full seeding) or drill sowing methods.
