There is an increasing amount of man-made debris that litterthe world's oceans and coastal waters, and associated problems which this brings. This debris consists mostly of persistent materials such as plastics, metal. glass and rubber. This dissertation provides an insight into problems and threats associated with plastic garbage. 'Apart from its persistence in the environment, plastics float for years and are concentrated into specific location by ocean currents causing permanent and irreversible damage to the marine ecosystem. This dissertation provides an overview of the marine environment protection issue on the ships of Lithuanian Shipping Company. The Lithuanian Shipping Company LISCO is the biggest shipping company in Lithuania. Until 1991 LISCO was a part of the USSR merchant fleet and could not carry out not only the whole policy of the company independently from Moscow but even a policy of environmental protection from pollution from ships. Bangladesh, as being a flag, coastal and port state, has a genuine concern about the threat of oil pollution from marine transportation in its waters. A method is provided for reducing the amount of wear particulates generated by a total joint orthopaedic implant. The implant consists of two matched articulating components. The method includes the steps of placing the total joint orthopaedic implant in a fluid bath and articulating the implant in the fluid bath for at least 1,000 cycles. The articulation may be performed in three stages. In the first, the implant is articulated under a load of substantially 0.1-500 Newtons with sliding speeds of substantially 0.01-0.5 meters per second. A process-oriented, daily time step model of a spruce/moss boreal ecosystem simulated 1994 and 1995 productivity for a Boreal Ecosystem-Atmosphere Study site near Thompson, Manitoba. Simulated black spruce net primary productivity (NPP) was 139 g C m−2 in 1994 and 112 in 1995; feathermoss NPP was 13.0 g C m−2 in 1994 and 9.7 in 1995; decomposition was 126 g C m−2 in 1994 and 130 in 1995; net ecosystem productivity (NEP) was an uptake of 26.3 g C m−2 in 1994 and 2.5 in 1995. I contend that the second cause of Posterior Analytics II.11 expresses Aristotle's doctrine of material cause as hypothetical necessity in Physics II. Aristotle presents two formulations of the second cause in Posterior Analytics II. 11, which he "clearly" means to be equivalent. These two formulations of the second cause, taken literally without reference to the definition of the syllogism, fit Aristotle's description of a material cause being "hypothetical necessity" in Physics II - that is, a necessary means to produce a goal.
