Meaningful Activity And Adaptation To Spinal Cord Injury: An Empirical Investigation Of A Cognitive-Existential Measure, Craig Ravesloot Ph.D., University Of Montana Rural Institute
Independent Living and Community Participation
Objective: To examine a measure of meaningful activity and purpose attributions for predicting disability outcome in adults with spinal cord injury (SCI). Study Design: Cross-sectional survey correlational design using multiple regression to examine the relationship between the meaningful activity scale and other disability outcome measures. Participants: Adults with spinal cord injury living independently in a community setting (n = 73). Main Outcome Measures: Sense of Coherence, the Centers for Epidemiological Studies of Depression Scale, the Hope Scale, the Health Promoting Lifestyle Inventory and the Life Satisfaction Scale. Results: Significant and substantial variation in each of the outcome measures was attributable …

This Comment is a guide for both employers and employees in successfully complying with the ADA's provisions, as they relate to persons with learning disabilities. Part II of this paper examines the types of employment discrimination that individuals with learning disabilities encounter in the application, daily work, and promotion processes. Part III provides an overview of the employment discrimination provisions of the ADA and how those provisions apply to people with learning disabilities. The focus of much research on field dependence-independence in sport settings has been on the relationship of field dependence-independence to sports with a preponderance of closed or open skills since 1970s. Although most of the previous research supported the claim that field dependence is of greater advantage to sports with a preponderance of open skills and field independence an advantage to sports with a preponderance of closed skills, several studies provided inconsistent and contradictory results. In addition, few of those studies involved adequate sports and sample size and some used a different sport classification. Little comparison, if any, of field …
