Federal Appeals Judge To Focus On Computer And Patent Law Issues As Visiting Scholar In Ud’S School Of Law, University Of Dayton
Federal Appeals Judge To Focus On Computer And Patent Law Issues As Visiting Scholar In Ud’S School Of Law, University Of Dayton
News Releases
Patent laws surrounding software are complex and confusing. Deciding what computer-related inventions can be protected by patent law has been a challenge for the courts. For example, ideas, laws of nature and mathematical formulas are not covered under patent protection, so a patent application for software that embodies an idea or formula would be rejected. However, if the software containing the idea, law or formula is instead applied to a particular machine, it is acceptable for patenting. "Patent protection of computer software is becoming more involved and more important," said Randall Rader, a circuit judge for the U.S. Court of …

A Comparison Of Developmental Gains For Preschool Children With Disabilities In Integrated And Self-Contained Classrooms, Annette Holahan
A Comparison Of Developmental Gains For Preschool Children With Disabilities In Integrated And Self-Contained Classrooms, Annette Holahan
Theses
The effects of classroom integration on the developmental and social growth of preschool children with disabilities was investigated on 15 pairs of children (n=30) matched for chronological age, sex, initial level of functioning, related services received, and attendance schedules. Progress was measured using the Brigance Diagnostic Inventory of Early Development. Results indicate that children functioning at a lower level of social and emotional functioning perform equally well in integrated and segregated settings while children functioning at a relatively higher level performed better in integrated settings than in segregated settings. No significant differences were found between the integrated and segregated groups …
