The Beef Quality Assurance Task Force (BQATF) was formed in early 1986 when three NCBA (then, the National Cattlemen's Association) Policy Committees independently directed NCBA to address "the growing issue of consumer concern about the safety and wholesomeness of beef." It was believed that the cattle industry's efforts aimed at improving beefs image as a healthful food with regard to its nutrient profile could not stand alone, and that lingering consumer concerns about drug and chemical residues in beef could negate any progress made in the diet/health area. Facts: Appellant sued respondent for damages under the Copyright Ordinance, arguing that respondent had copied several price lists that appellant had published in at least eleven different booklets. The district court found that the respondent, despite copying from several different sources, had, for the purposes of section 3A of the Copyright Ordinance, only committed one single act of infringement. The district court also held that once appellant had failed to prove actual damages, it could not sue for statutory damages.

STATE AND COUNTY EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS. ADDITIONAL TOBACCO SURTAX. INITIATIVE CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT AND STATUTE. Creates state commission to provide information and materials and to formulate guidelines for establishment of comprehensive early childhood development and smoking prevention programs. Creates county commissions to develop strategic plans with emphasis on new programs. Creates trust fund for these programs. Funding for state and county commissions and programs raised by additional $.50 per pack tax on cigarette distributors and equivalent increase in state tax on distributed tobacco products.
