Law Libraries And The Layperson: A Bibliography Of Self-Help Books, Kristen M. Mckeaney
Law Libraries And The Layperson: A Bibliography Of Self-Help Books, Kristen M. Mckeaney
Theses and Dissertations
Although the goal of a comprehensive legal library is to be a resource to professionals and the general public, the issue of providing legal assistance to laypersons via the library is a complex one. Compiling the legal resources to benefit the lay public is challenging. This paper attempts to systematically identify and suggest resources following pre-set criteria of affordability, content usefulness, timeliness and reasonableness of management.
The primary form of this paper is a bibliography following a subject specific format. The bibliography is further defined into sections of legal reference books, internet sites, legal directories, general references and agencies. The …

The Legal Advice Requirement Of The Attorney-Client Privilege: A Special Problem For In-House Counsel And Outside Attorneys Representing Corporations, Grace M. Giesel
The Legal Advice Requirement Of The Attorney-Client Privilege: A Special Problem For In-House Counsel And Outside Attorneys Representing Corporations, Grace M. Giesel
Mercer Law Review
The attorney-client privilege protects certain communications between attorney and client from compelled disclosure. The privilege applies to clients who are individuals as well as to corporate clients. The lawyers providing legal services to corporations may be outside attorneys who are employees of law firms. Many corporations, however, rely on in-house attorneys for many, if not all, of their legal needs. Often, in-house attorneys have official responsibilities that involve them in the management of the company. Even if the attorneys do not have official nonlegal responsibilities, the corporation may seek the opinion of inhouse attorneys with regard to all sorts of …

A Paradigm Shift In Legal Education: Preparing Law Students For The Twenty-First Century: Teaching Foreign Law, Culture, And Legal Language Of The Major U.S. American Trading Partners, Gloria M. Sanchez
San Diego Law Review
Globalization of the world markets is the impetus behind this Article's call to law schools to include elective courses in transnational practice. Based on the denationalization of markets, laws and politics, the author argues that law schools should provide specialized courses in foreign law, taught in their domestic language, so that students are trained in the basic legal structures of other nations. Because of the creation of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) the author recommends courses in Mexican law, culture, and Spanish legal language in U.S. law schools. The author also explains why understanding law in the context …
