Rfra Is Not Needed: New York Land Use Regulations Accommodate Religious Use, John R. Nolon Jul 1997

Rfra Is Not Needed: New York Land Use Regulations Accommodate Religious Use, John R. Nolon

Elisabeth Haub School of Law Faculty Publications

The case of City of Boerne v. Flores marked an important day in the history of the Constitution. The decision of the United States Supreme Court invalidated the Religious Freedom Restoration Act as applied to a local Texas zoning ordinance. The ordinance created a historical preservation area in an attempt to curb a church from expanding its buildings. The Supreme Court held that the Freedom Restoration Act went beyond Congress’s power because of the Act’s broad coverage and potential to intrude on laws regardless of context. This holding parallels the general application of the New York case law, which, generally …

Endangered And Threatened Wildlife And Plants; Final Rule To Designate The Whooping Cranes Of The Rocky Mountains As Experimental Nonessential And To Remove Whooping Crane Critical Habitat Designations From Four Locations

Endangered Species Bulletin

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service determines that it will designate the whooping crane (Grus americana) population of the Rocky Mountains as an experimental nonessential population and will remove whooping crane critical habitat designations from four National Wildlife Refuges; Bosque del Apache in New Mexico, Monte Vista and Alamosa in Colorado, and Grays Lake in Idaho. The private lands involved are holdings inside refuge boundaries and a 1-mile buffer around Grays Lake National Wildlife Refuge. The Service will use this population, and captive-reared sandhill cranes and whooping cranes, in experiments to evaluate methods for introducing whooping cranes into …

Assembly And Regulation Of The Cd40 Receptor Complex In Human B Cells, Michelle R. Kuhné, Michael Robbins, John E. Hambor, Matthew F. Mackey, Yoko Kosaka, Toshihide Nishimura, Jason P. Gigley, Randolph J. Noelle, David M. Calderhead Jul 1997

Assembly And Regulation Of The Cd40 Receptor Complex In Human B Cells, Michelle R. Kuhné, Michael Robbins, John E. Hambor, Matthew F. Mackey, Yoko Kosaka, Toshihide Nishimura, Jason P. Gigley, Randolph J. Noelle, David M. Calderhead

Dartmouth Scholarship

CD40 is a member of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) receptor superfamily. Studies with human B cells show that the binding of CD154 (gp39, CD40L) to CD40 recruits TNF receptor– associated factor 2 (TRAF2) and TRAF3 to the receptor complex, induces the downregulation of the nonreceptor-associated TRAFs in the cell and induces an increased expression of Fas on the cell surface. Combined signaling through the interluekin 4 receptor and CD40 induces an increased expression of Fas with a commensurate increase in the level of TRAF2, but not TRAF3, that is recruited to the receptor complex. In contrast, engagement of the …
