Wheels: An Automated Program Analysis Tool, Aggie Sun, Bruce Mcmillin
Computer Science Technical Reports
The understanding of program behavior is becoming vitally more important now that software is becoming an integral part of industry and everyday life. However, even the best documented code is often not sufficient enough to completely and correctly relay the actual program behavior. The problem lies beyond being familiar with the programming language and is hidden in the complex mathematics which govern the program's behavior. This behavior is not easily detected and varies from one program to the next. We propose a method for describing program behavior using two general properties of iterative programs: feasibility and progress. This method can …

Energy Dispersive X-Ray Microanalysis Of The Dentin In Rat Molars After Corticosteroid Treatment, Karin Nasstrom, Rolf Odselius, Arne Petersson
Scanning Microscopy
The aim of this study was to investigate whether the calcium (Ca) and phosphorus (P) composition of corticosteroid induced dentin was the same as in normally developed dentin. Seven rats were given corticosteroids intravenously and three rats served as controls. Energy dispersive X-ray microanalysis (EDX) was carried out on the axially sawn roots of the molars. Measurements were made at 20 sites, equally distributed in the buccal, mesial, lingual and distal direction. The results showed that the Ca/P ratio (weight %) was slightly above 2.0 in both the experimental and the control group, indicating that the corticosteroid induced dentin had …

A + strand RNA viral transformation of host organisms with foreign RNA, and expression of said foreign RNA. The foreign RNA is inserted into an infective RNA viral segment containing replication elements, and allowed to infect the host organism. The invention is exemplified utilizing brome mosaic RNA modified to contain a gene coding for chloramphenicol acetyl transferase (CAT) in the transformation of barley protoplasts.

Evaluation Of The Concentration And Enantiomeric Purity Of Selected Free Amino Acids In Fermented Malt Beverages (Beers), K. Helen Ekborg-Ott, Daniel W. Armstrong
Chemistry Faculty Research & Creative Works
Even though amino acids are important trace components in the brewing of beers, they have not been extensively evaluated in these beverages. Studies involving the enantiomeric composition of these amino acids are even less prevalent. A brief summary of the brewing process for malt beverages is given. The total concentration and enantiomeric composition of three amino acids (leucine, phenylalanine, and proline) were determined in 25 different beers. Proline tended to have the highest average absolute concentration and the lowest percentage of the D-enantiomer in most samples. In some cases the relative amounts of D-phenylalanine and D-leucine exceeded 10% of the …
