Department of Animal Science: Faculty Publications

The objectives of this study were to determine whether circulating concentrations of gonadotropins and gonadal hormones of boars were altered as a result of selection of pigs for size of testes or for embryonal survival and(or) number of ovulations. Included in Exp. 1 and 2 were boars with the greatest estimated paired weight of testes (TS) and boars from a control (C) line. Concentrations of FSH were similar ( P > .10) in boars from the TS and C lines. In Exp. 3, 4, and 5, circulating concentrations of FSH and 17β-estradiol (E2) were evaluated in neonates, during pubertal …

Synthetic Simulation And Modeling Of Image Intensified Ccds (Iiccd), Emmett Ientilucci Jul 1996

Synthetic Simulation And Modeling Of Image Intensified Ccds (Iiccd), Emmett Ientilucci

Theses

Image intensifying cameras have been found to be extremely useful in low-light-level (LLL) scenarios including military night-vision and civilian rescue operations. These sensors utilize the available visible region photons and an amplification process to produce high-contrast imagery. Today's image intensifiers are usually attached to a CCD and incorporate a microchannel plate (MCP) for amplification purposes. These devices are commonly referred to as image intensified CCDs (IICCD). To date, there has not been much work in the area of still-frame, low-light-level simulations with radiometric accuracy in mind. Most work has been geared toward real-time simulations where the emphasis is on situational …

3d Realtime Fluid Animation By Navier-Stokes Equations, Niels Da Vitoria Lobo, Chen Jinxiong Jul 1996

3d Realtime Fluid Animation By Navier-Stokes Equations, Niels Da Vitoria Lobo, Chen Jinxiong

UCF Patents

This is a method for physically-based modeling of three dimensional (3D) general fluid animation in computer graphics. By solving the two dimensional (2D) Navier-Stokes equations using a Computational Fluid Dynamics method, we map it into 3D using the corresponding pressures in the fluid flow field. The method achieves realistic real-time fluid animation by solving the physical governing laws of fluids but avoiding the extensive 3D fluid dynamics computation. Unlike previous computer graphics fluid models, our approach can model many different fluid behaviors by changing the internal or external boundary conditions. It can also model different kinds of fluids by varying …
