The Adaptation Of Regular Elementary Classrooms For Children With Moderate And Severe Disabilities: Inclusion Practices From The Principal's Perspective, Jerry R. Herman
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
This study examined the perceptions of elementary school principals in Tennessee regarding the desirability and feasibility of adapting regular elementary classrooms and programs for the inclusion of children with moderate and severe disabilities. The purpose of the study was to add an administrative dimension to current research on inclusive educational programming for children typically educated in special (CDC) class settings. Data collection for the descriptive design of the study was accomplished by use of a 40 item survey instrument with a 7-point Likert-type scale for each construct (i.e., desirability and feasibility). Four ten item subscales addressed the areas of Staff …
The Role Of Compulsory Heterosexuality In The Abdication And Queen Christina, Becky Beth Benedict
The Role Of Compulsory Heterosexuality In The Abdication And Queen Christina, Becky Beth Benedict
Theses and Dissertations
Contemporary playwrights, Ruth Wolff and Pam Gems, create portrayals of Queen Christina of Sweden in Wolff’s The Abdication and Gem’s Queen Christina, both of which can be perceived to contain the issues of culturally- encoded gender and sexual roles.
To compare and contrast the influence of these culturally-encoded gender and sexual roles within these plays, I have applied Adrienne Rich’s theory of “compulsory heterosexuality," which serves as a critical tool to clarify the similarities and differences of these issues within the selected dramatic texts. According to Rich, “compulsory heterosexuality” refers to the ideas that male-female coupling is the preferred choice …
Bead Colors As Social Relations Markers At Mission Soledad, California, Lori Lee Buck
Bead Colors As Social Relations Markers At Mission Soledad, California, Lori Lee Buck
LSU Historical Dissertations and Theses
This thesis is an interpretive analysis focusing on the use of beads as a tool for determining social relations at Mission Soledad, California. The main indicator of social relations used in this thesis is bead distribution. Two attributes were used to classify the beads, color and type.
To understand the importance of the bead distribution, the ideologies of the three native cultures that were recruited to the mission and the Spanish missionaries who founded the mission were studied. From this information, color symbolism and sources were examined to gain knowledge of important colors. This was done with the hopes that …

Reflections On O.J. And The Gas Chamber, J. Michael Echevarria
Reflections On O.J. And The Gas Chamber, J. Michael Echevarria
San Diego Law Review
This Article discusses the traditional justifications advanced in support of the death penalty and compares them with current empirical data. The justifications are then applied to the O.J. Simpson case. The Article examines the data and reasons for the incidence of error in convicting innocent defendants in capital cases. The type of representation available to O.J. Simpson is contrasted with the quality of representation accorded to most capital defendants. After comparing the empirical data with the ideological justifications for capital punishment, the Author concludes that capital punishment is not necessary.

Arts Administration Master's Reports (1984-2016)
Esplanade Ridge is the largest downtown historic district in New Orleans, a place that is known as the home of the "last Creole aristocrats" and described as the French Creole version of St. Charles Avenue during the 1800's (Jensen A-I). This historically significant neighborhood is suffering much like other metropolitan areas in New Orleans. Amidst the urban neighborhoods ofNew Orleans often exists rampant property deterioration, crime, litter and population loss. Typical problems in any city, these frightening realities often make imagining the future of Esplanade Ridge a depressing experience. However, alongside the problems endures a rich cultural history and offering. …

Fighting For Peaceful Fighting: A Teaching Ministry Moving Church Members From Suppressing To Managing Conflict, Randy Willingham
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this study is to develop a seminar that offers a conflictual church an alternative way of managing conflict. The project begins by identifying one church's major obstacles to conflict engagement. These identified obstacles are a rigid theology supporting unhealthy conflict patterns, a high level of anxiety concerning conflict, a lack of skill in addressing conflict because of adaptation to conflict suppression, and a variety of unhealthy habitual responses to conflict.

Dancin' To Freedom: A Historical Analysis Of The Rise Of The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Deborah Obalil '95
Honors Projects, History
The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater was founded in New York City in 1958. It was the creative product of Alvin Ailey, a young African-American dancer whose early childhood years were spent picking cotton, and it consisted of six additional African American dancers. While it was not the first company of its kind, it would grow to become one of America's leading modern dance companies. Considering the times in which it began, and the fact that many young dance companies never make it beyond local performance seasons, it is amazing that the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater grew beyond its …
