Expanding The Risk Assessment Skills And Intervention Options Of Child Protection Caseworkers Investigating Abuse/Neglect Of Childrenaseworkers Investigating Abuse/Neglect Of Children, Patricia A. Verstraete
Abraham S. Fischler College of Education ETD Archive
This practicum was designed to enhance the skills of child protection workers who investigate child abuse that occurs in families where there is a chronically mentally ill caretaker. This project focused on three types of social casework skills, risk assessment, intervention strategies, and community networking.
Skill building was accomplished through three processes. Caseworkers were invited to a forum where current research data and literature that addressed risk issues were presented. Workers were encouraged to discuss and analyze this information as it related to current caseloads. The process used to enhance intervention strategies induced staffing CMI cases and reviewing a Intervention …

Valencia Community College has implemented an Honors Programs for the purpose of serving those students entering the collage who meet the established criteria indicating that they are students who can master advanced work. The Program began in 1988 with the Interdisciplinary studies classes and was extended to all disciplines in 1990. The College enrolled more than 1000 students in the Fall of 1990 in a variety of honors classes collegewide. Students must meet the specific criteria to be accepted in the Program and must maintain specific criteria to be retained. The records of the honors students in 1988, 1989, and …

Development Of A Promotional Plan For Programs For Higher Education, Joseph E. Campbell
Development Of A Promotional Plan For Programs For Higher Education, Joseph E. Campbell
Abraham S. Fischler College of Education ETD Archive
Since 1976, Nova University’s Programs for Higher Education have awarded more than 1800 Ed.D.’s to working professionals in various areas of higher education. One of the main problems facing Nova University’s Programs for Higher Education has been its continued ability to attract, admit, and enroll students, who will successfully complete the program, in a changing and increasingly competitive environment. Name recognition, lack of knowledge about the quality of the program, as well as continued misconceptions about the validity of an external degree frequently cause enrollment problems. Also, the program has not comprehensively reviewed its on going promotional activities in several …
A Critical Analysis Of The Characteristics Of The Associate Degree Nursing Student Population A Chabot College; Implications For Curriculum Development, Nancy Cowan
Abraham S. Fischler College of Education ETD Archive
In 1990, the nursing faculty at Chabot College in Hayward California, discussed concerns about increases in nursing student attrition and a decline in success of program graduates in passing the nursing licensing examination. It was postulated that the characteristics of the current nursing student population had changed and the existing curriculum might not be relevant to student needs.
Before proceeding with curriculum changes, it seemed advisable to explore more precisely what changes had taken place in the characteristics of students enrolled in the nursing program. The purpose of this project was to Investigate and analyze selected characteristics of students who …
Pavement Deflection Evaluations, R. Clark Graves, David L. Allen
Pavement Deflection Evaluations, R. Clark Graves, David L. Allen
Kentucky Transportation Center Research Report
In this study a procedure has been developed to evaluate the structural condition of pavements using Road Rater deflection measurements. These procedures compare actual field deflections with deflections calculated by the Chevron N-Layer linear elastic computer program. The results obtained from these procedures are the layer moduli of the pavement materials. Procedures have been developed for asphaltic concrete pavements and composite pavements, including broken and non-broken concrete layers. This report also contains a comparison of structural overlay determined using the results of the new procedure, with overlays calculated using results from the 2-3 Projected procedure currently used by the Pavement …

Spectra of energetic protons and deuterons emitted following negative muon capture from rest in 3He have been measured for the first time. Significant capture strength is observed at high energy transfers (mμ- Ev >60 MeV) for the two-body and three-body breakup channels, indicative of the importance of nucleon-nucleon correlations and meson exchange currents in the capture process. A simple plane wave impulse approximation calculation reproduces the proton spectrum reasonably well, but underpredicts the deuteron rate at the highest energies by a large factor.
Theological Education In Context: A Pilot Extension Program For The Seventh-Day Adventist Church In Rwanda, Robert G. Peck
Theological Education In Context: A Pilot Extension Program For The Seventh-Day Adventist Church In Rwanda, Robert G. Peck
Doctor of Ministry Projects
Problem
One of the most important concerns that presents itself to the Adventist Church in Rwanda is how to adequately cope with the rapid growth of new members. The Development Of A Course In Biblical Theology Based On A Book-By-Book Approach To The Bible, Daniel Duda
The Development Of A Course In Biblical Theology Based On A Book-By-Book Approach To The Bible, Daniel Duda
Doctor of Ministry Projects
The purpose of this project was to develop and undergraduate college course in Biblical Theology. Part One establishes a theoretical background by exploring the biblical and theological foundations.
Chapter 1 states the purpose, justification, and limitations of the project. Chapter 2 begins with a historical review of the discipline. Following J. Gabler's definition, Biblical Theology became a purely historical and descriptive discipline which delineates the theological views of the biblical writings and the communities of their origin, explaining "what it meant" in biblical times. This brought an emphasis on diversity and development within the Scripture.
The discipline split into separate …

Design And Implementation Of A Course To Train Lay Persons In The Southampton, Bermuda, Sda Church To Prepare And Preach Evangelistic Sermons, Sydney C. Gibbons

The purpose of the study was to provide a preaching course to prepare lay persons of the Southampton Seventh-day Adventist Church in Bermuda to preach evangelistic sermons.
Method. A preaching course was designed and used over a three-month period to teach lay persons how to preach. In addition to developing a sermon and preaching it on two occasions in class, each student of …

What You See Is What You Get: A Media Seminar For The Renewal Of Christian Values, John Glass
What You See Is What You Get: A Media Seminar For The Renewal Of Christian Values, John Glass
Doctor of Ministry Projects
Problem
North American Seventh-day Adventists who spend considerable time viewing television appear to be increasingly patterning their lives after those lifestyles portrayed on commercial programs, consequently experiencing some of the problems (e.g., divorce) that secular individuals experience, yet tend to reject those who question television, nor seek to understand the impact television viewing has on character development, spirituality, and lifestyle values.
Method
Using recent scientific research as a basis, a seminar was developed that was designed to inform church members of the impact that indiscriminate viewing of commercial television programs has on character development and personal lifestyle values.

The Methods Of Selected British Pastors Evaluated In The Light Of The New Testament And Ellen G. White For Their Usefulness To The Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Paul R. Smith
Doctor of Ministry Projects
Since the early 1950s immigrants have been arriving in Britain in large numbers from the Caribbean and from Asia. Some immigrants from the West Indies have joined Seventh-day Adventist churches. Currently, statistics indicate that although Seventh-day Adventist membership has increased in Britain since 1950, the Black percentage has risen considerably while the White percentage has dramatically declined. This study was undertaken in the hope that by examining the methods of four successful non-Seventh-day Adventist pastors in England and comparing their approaches with instructions found in Scripture and the writings of Ellen G. White we could find pointers which could help …
