A Social And Economic Portrait Of The Mississippi Delta, Arthur G. Cosby, Mitchell W. Brackin, T. David Mason, Eunice R. Mcculloch

SSRC Publications

The ultimate goal of the study was to improve the quality of life in a region where, in spite of rich natural resources, large numbers of people still live in poverty. The Project was to carry out a fundamental assessment of the Delta region, its people, its economy, its social system, its local government capacities, and its regional infrastructure. From the very first, the intent of the study was to go beyond a mere description of the Mississippi Delta; it was also to point toward courses of action that would lead to the improvement of the Delta region.

Domestic Relations, Barry B. Mcgough, Andrea G. Alpern Dec 1992

Domestic Relations, Barry B. Mcgough, Andrea G. Alpern

Mercer Law Review

The Georgia Supreme Court has decided that a medical school education, a medical license, and contingent fee contracts are not marital property subject to equitable division. The court also declared that a judgment modifying alimony is effective no earlier than the date of the judgment and that an award of joint legal custody does not preclude an award of child support. This Article is divided into three sections. Section I covers cases dealing with child support and visitation; Section II covers cases dealing with settlement agreements, alimony, and equitable division; and Section III deals with contempt.

This historical analysis sought to determine the types of power utilized by Florence Nightingale while providing leadership to major reforms and how these power acts were implemented- The scope of the study was her productive post- Crimean years from 1856 through 1872. Events which were examined included the reform of the health of the British Army including the Royal Commission, the establishment of modem, secular nursing education and the establishment of public health standards in India during British colonization.

Sociolinguistic Dimensions Of Nurse Practitioner Practice: A Question Of Power, Merrily J. Allen Dnsc, Mn, Rn Dec 1992

Sociolinguistic Dimensions Of Nurse Practitioner Practice: A Question Of Power, Merrily J. Allen Dnsc, Mn, Rn

Dissertations

Ethnographic methods were used to examine the sociolinguistic dimensions of female nurse practitioner interactions with female patients. The purpose was to provide a contextual account of the discursive practices used by the nurse practitioners during routine office visits with female patients. Direction for this research was provided by my concern about power inherent in professional-client dyadic relationships. Data collection methods included formal and informal interviews, participant observation and audio taping nurse-patient encounters. Nine nurse practitioners and 26 patients participated in the study in both private and public ambulatory care settings. Data analysis yielded two concurrent story lines which I labeled …

Study On Street Children In Four Selected Towns In Ethiopia, Kevin Lalor, Angela Veale, Azeb Adefrisew, Unicef, University College Cork

Reports

The child is the most precious asset and the focal point of development for any country. However, unless children are brought up in a stimulating and conducive environment getting the best possible care and protection, their physical, mental, emotional and social development is susceptible to permanent damage. Ethiopia, being one of the least developed countries of the world due to interrelated and complex socio-economic factors including man-made and natural calamities, a large portion of our population - especially children - are victimized by social evils like famine, disease, poverty, mass displacement, lack of education and family instability. Owing to the …
