Solid deposits of SiO2 (phytoliths) accumulate in many plants in specific intracellular and extracellular locations. Phytoliths have morphological characteristics unique to some taxa and therefore have taxonomic significance. Phytoliths persist and maintain their morphological integrity long after a plant has died, thus becoming a microfossil of the plant that produced them. Development of phytolith sytematics for microfossil phytoliths has traditionally followed a typological approach based on simple verbal descriptions of shape. A new method for use in phytolith sytematics is the morphometric approach which employs computer-based Image Analysis Systems to make quantified measurements of morphological parameters (size, shape, texture, …

Differences In Longitudinal Union Relative Wage Effects Across Gender And Race, Dwight Adamnson
Differences In Longitudinal Union Relative Wage Effects Across Gender And Race, Dwight Adamnson
Economics Staff Paper Series (1969 - 2017)
This paper utilizes longitudinal union variables to examine the gender differences in the wage change from entering and leaving the union sector, as well as gender differences from remaining with a union employer and advancing up the seniority ladder. The union effects are estimated over a time trend from the late 19608 to the early 19808. The empirical results show that the female union joiner effect declines over time while the magnitude of the male union effect remains fairly stable over time. In general, the results show that unions' ability to impact wages for all white workers and black female …

The American Deists: Voices Of Reason And Dissent In The Early Republic, Kerry S. Walters
The American Deists: Voices Of Reason And Dissent In The Early Republic, Kerry S. Walters
Kansas Open Books
Challenging carved-in-stone tenets of Christianity, deism began sprouting in colonial America in the early eighteenth century, was flourishing nicely by the American Revolution, and for all intents and purposes was dead by 1811. Despite its hasty demise, deism left a theological legacy. Christian sensibility would never be quite the same. Bringing together the works of six major American deists—Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Ethan Allen, Thomas Paine, Elihu Palmer, and Philip Frenau—an dthe Frechman Comte de Volney, whose writings greatly influenced the American deists, Kerry Walters has created the fullest analysis yet of deism and rational religion in colonial and early …

Divestiture, By-Pass, Entry, Cross Subsidization: Conflicting Forces In The Deregulation Of The South Dakota Telecommunications Market, Dwight Adamnson, Jack Triweiler
Divestiture, By-Pass, Entry, Cross Subsidization: Conflicting Forces In The Deregulation Of The South Dakota Telecommunications Market, Dwight Adamnson, Jack Triweiler
Economics Staff Paper Series (1969 - 2017)
This study reviews the impact the divestiture of AT&T had on the South Dakota telecommunications market, and explains the technological changes that have occurred and how these changes have been translated into lower costs. The South Dakota telecommunications market is examined under the scenarios: 1) fully regulated; 2) partial regulation; and 3) unregulated market. ARIMA procedures are used to forecast changes in revenues under the two different regulatory schemes. The degree of contestability of the South Dakota Telecommunications market is investigated to determine if competitions is suitable for the unregulated scenario. The study argues that the market is competitive.
