The Impact Of Mining And Mining Exploration On Range Resources And Pastoral Pursuits In The Pilbara, Gascoyne, Murchison And Goldfields Regions Of Western Australia, H J. Pringle, G A. Carter, J L. James, R E Y O'Connor Nov 1990

The Impact Of Mining And Mining Exploration On Range Resources And Pastoral Pursuits In The Pilbara, Gascoyne, Murchison And Goldfields Regions Of Western Australia, H J. Pringle, G A. Carter, J L. James, R E Y O'Connor

Resource management technical reports

Mining activity occurs very widely over relatively small areas of the rangelands. However, it is an intense landuse which can create significant offsite effects. Mining activity is most common around metamorphic 'greenstone' belts and broad drainages. Pastoralists reported both benefits and adverse affects as a consequence of mining activity. The main grievances related to unnecessary and excessive disturbance of pastoral land and the failure of operators to inform the pastoralist of their intentions.

National Eldercare System Project: A National Study Comparing Successful Community-Based Systems Of Care For Older People, Richard H. Fortinsky, David Karraker, Suzanne K. Hart, David Lambert Phd, Paula Hollis, Mary Colombo, Terrie Wetle Phd Nov 1990

National Eldercare System Project: A National Study Comparing Successful Community-Based Systems Of Care For Older People, Richard H. Fortinsky, David Karraker, Suzanne K. Hart, David Lambert Phd, Paula Hollis, Mary Colombo, Terrie Wetle Phd

Disability & Aging

The purpose of this project was to compare three different models of building and strengthening community-based systems of care for older adults. Models were distinguished by the type of organization that took the lead in developing the system of services: Area Agency on Aging, acute care hospital, and residential facility. Specific questions addressed in this project were: (1) What conditions in a local community give rise to a community-based system of care (CBSC) for older adults? (2) What are the necessary steps in planning and designing CBSCs? (3) How are successful CBSCs established and maintained? (4) How does the type …

Striking Visual Contrasts, Pei-Yung Chou Nov 1990

Striking Visual Contrasts, Pei-Yung Chou

Theses

In the thesis, I plan to make experiments mainly about blending graphic forms in painting, possibly combining all kinds of different forms that I am interested in, for instance, Expressionism, Hard-edge, Symbolism, Abstractionism, and Realism to create a striking visual contrast. Simultaneously, I hope to research the following areas during the development of the work. (They will influence the pictorial effects to some degree.): 1 The relation between the artwork and the exhibition space. 2.The extension of painting in terms of reconstituting or changing the order of complete paintings. In my final work, I spent most of my time on …

The Design, Fabrication, And Test Of A Cmos Operational Amplifier, Edward P. Sayre Nov 1990

The Design, Fabrication, And Test Of A Cmos Operational Amplifier, Edward P. Sayre

Theses

The topic of this thesis is the design, fabrication, and testing of a CMOS operational Amplifier. This Operational Amplifier was first realized as a class design project for Advanced Analog IC design. Specifications for the device performance were determined by Dr. Fuller and Edward Sayre to enable the op-amp to be incorporated into a larger more complex design. The specifications of the operational amplifier were made to enable design integration into an amplifier which would operate in the audio frequency range. The main constraints placed on the design of the op-amp were low power consumption and a relatively moderate gain.

Sand Bluestem And Prairie Sandreed Establishment, Robert A. Masters, Kenneth P. Vogel, Patrick E. Reece, Dennis Bauer Nov 1990

Sand Bluestem And Prairie Sandreed Establishment, Robert A. Masters, Kenneth P. Vogel, Patrick E. Reece, Dennis Bauer

United States Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Research Service / University of Nebraska-Lincoln: Faculty Publications

Sand bluestem [Andropogon gerardii var. paucipilus (Nash) Fern,] and prairie sandreed (Calamovitfa longifolia Hook.) are native warm-season grasses used to revegetate cropland and degraded rangeland on highly erodible sandy soils in the central Great Plains. The objectives of this study were to compare establishment success of the 2 grasses and to determine if application of atrazine at time of planting enhanced grass establishment. Eight plantings, including 'Goldstrike' and 'Garden' sand bluestem and 'Goshen' and 'Pronghorn' prairie sandreed, were made from 1985 to 1987 at locations in eastern, north central, and western Nebraska. Three plantings were established under irrigation …
