Graphics And Its Application To The Progress And Cost Analyses Of A House Building Construction Company, Frank Lewis Leonard Wilson
Graphics And Its Application To The Progress And Cost Analyses Of A House Building Construction Company, Frank Lewis Leonard Wilson
Masters Theses
"In the graphical analyses of Stresses in Framed Structures, we study, by means of diagrams, the stability or equilibrium of structures and the relation between the external forces and the stresses created in the members of the frame. The principle involved is that we may represent any force both as to direction and intensity by a straight line, by considering the direction of the line to be identical with that of the force and adjusting its length according to any arbitrary unit adopted for the forces under consideration. By this means we can solve the stresses in framed structures with …

The Roasting Of Zinc Ores In The Manufacture Of Sulphuric Acid By The Contact Process, Clarence Eugene Peterson
The Roasting Of Zinc Ores In The Manufacture Of Sulphuric Acid By The Contact Process, Clarence Eugene Peterson
Professional Degree Theses
"The unprecedented demand for sulphuric acid of the higher strengths (98% and higher) in the manufacture of explosives, has stimulated the zinc smelters to increased efforts in the recovery of their Roaster gases in the form of Sulphuric Acid. The Lead-chamber process is unsuitable, however, in making "strong" acid and the smelters naturally turned to the contact mass or catalytic processes. In the roasting of zinc ores practically all of the sulphur is removed as sulphur dioxide, the disagreeable odor and unmistakable injury to surrounding localities, of which, first led to the adoption of sulphuric acid plants by most zinc …
On The Microscopic Determination Of Cadmium In Metallic Zinc, James Presley Gill
On The Microscopic Determination Of Cadmium In Metallic Zinc, James Presley Gill
Professional Degree Theses
"A quick and accurate determination of Cadmium in Metallic Zinc by all ordinary chemical methods now in use, so far as the writer has been able to ascertain is at best only approximate. However, longer methods and very delicate ones for determining Cadmium are in use that are very accurate, but these methods are so long and so delicate that very few commercial laboratories care to use them. Now, it has been known for some time that Zinc and Cadmium do not form an alloy which when in the solid exist either as a solution or a compound. They do …

Frederick Steines, The First German Schoolmaster West Of The Mississippi : A Poet, Maria Elisabeth Steining
Frederick Steines, The First German Schoolmaster West Of The Mississippi : A Poet, Maria Elisabeth Steining
Theses and Dissertations
It has been my pleasure to study the life and works of Friedrich Steines to some extent. He is an interesting character for he was one of the strong pioneers on the western frontier in the days of 1834 when St. Louis was a small town. Especially is he interesting from an educational point of view because of hie progressive ideas and because he was the first German schoolmaster west of the Mississippi River. But he was not only a teacher. He has also left us a number of fine poems.
It is the purpose of this paper to give …

Simple Quantitative Determination Of The Non-Protein Portion Of Milk, Based On Greenwald's Modification Of The Determination Of The Non-Protein Nitrogen In Blood., Sarah Huntoon Vance
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
As far as I have been able to determine from the scant literature at hand, no attempt has been made as yet to determine the percentage of non-protein nitrogen in milk by a procedure simple enough for use as a clinical method. This problem was suggested to me by Dr. Charles J. Robinson, with the request that I should base my method on some of the methods of determination of the non-protein nitrogen portion of other physiological fluids.

The purpose of the tests in this thesis was to determine the worth and adaptability of the Conical Mill for the preliminary grinding of cement clinker and to determine the relative merits of this type of grinder as compared to the roll type of grinder. The tests herein were performed under the direction of the writer assisted personally and through correspondence by Mr. H.W. Hardinge of …
Determination Of Critical Point Of Concentrating Tables On Arizona Copper Ore, J. C. Finagin Jr., W. C. Hogoboom
Determination Of Critical Point Of Concentrating Tables On Arizona Copper Ore, J. C. Finagin Jr., W. C. Hogoboom
Professional Degree Theses
"In the concentration of an ore by means of concentrating tables, there is a critical point in sizing beyond which the valuable minerals can not be recovered. Theoretically, the lighter gangue is washed over the side of' the table and the heavier mineral, regardless of size, is recoverable at the end, these concentrates being graded from coarse to fine sizes up the slope of the table. In practice, however, the finer sizes of concentrates are found mixed with the middlings and tailings, as indicated by the arrows on the diagram of the concentrating table shown below. The problem is to …

Measurement Of Air Under High Pressure By Orifice Method, George E. Mellow
Bachelors Theses
"The measuring of compressed air, under high pressures, by means of observing the drop in pressure on passing thru an orifice, is in a new field of endeavor. The necessity of measuring compressed air, in order to handle it economically, is obvious. Hence, the importance of a simple device by which this may be done. A device, which may be duplicated at any time, at any place, with very little expense, and ordinary materials"--Introduction, page iii.

Some Aspects Of Individual Psychology, Curtis T. Williams
Historical Dissertations & Theses
This study is concerned primarily with tracing differences, somatological and mental, which mark off one individual from another. The term "differential psychology" may be applied in the sense of William Stern. This newer field of individual psychology, although relying on the parent stem for much of its stimulus and data, is receiving increasing attention ans has reached the stage where it may be called a separate discipline.

Along the shore line of Lake Michigan are bluffs approximately fifty to sixty feet high above the level of the lake. With the exception of approximately two or three miles, where the ground elevation is not much above the lake level these bluffs are almost continuous along the shore. This low land extends from a short distance north of Wisconsin Street to a short distance south of the Illinois Steel Company's plant. The territory north of Wisconsin Street to the City Limits is almost entirely residential and, therefore, cannot be considered favorably as regards to the location of a mnufacturing …

The Sources Of Buddhism, T. Newton Hill
The Sources Of Buddhism, T. Newton Hill
Graduate Thesis Collection
At first sight the problem of the sources of Buddhism seems to require merely a study of the life and teachings of Gotama. or Sakyamuni, the "Buddha" or "enlightsned one." The existence even of such a person has been questioned, however. Many scholars question his importance in the development of Buddhism, and even in the field of his life and career there is a great variety in the theories which have been seriously held by western scholars. It is the purpose of this thesis to study these problems and to arrive at the true solution of the sources of Buddhism.
