Planning And Building A Home, Alton Marie Britt
Planning And Building A Home, Alton Marie Britt
All Theses
Shelter like food and clothing, is one of our fundamental needs. There are many problems, sanitary, economic, social and architectual, involved in a consideration of shelter. There are two considerations of prime importance which should influence every decision made in connection with the selection of a house. First, the primary use of a house is for protection, it is what we put between us and the world. Second, the house is our base, the point from which we make our contacts with the world, the place where we recover from our daily struggles and prepare for them, the place from …
The Biological Foundation Of The Social Science, Bobbye Allen Lawrie
The Biological Foundation Of The Social Science, Bobbye Allen Lawrie
All Theses
The purpose of this study is to show the significance of the following four principle biological factors to the social sciences as they affect the United States. These are first, reproduction and fecundity which are the processes of maintaining the human species by the transmission of life from one individual to a succession of new ones.^" Second, heredity, the tendency of all species to reproduce offspring after its own kind; the transmission of genetic factors from parents to offspring. Third, variation, which is the tendency of the members of any species to varying one from another. Fourth, natural selection, or …
An Analysis Of "The Seven Last Words Of Christ" A Sacred Cantata For Soli, Chorus And Orchestra By Theodore Du Bois For Adaptation To Voices Of The Junior High School, Doris Eula Mae Sampson
An Analysis Of "The Seven Last Words Of Christ" A Sacred Cantata For Soli, Chorus And Orchestra By Theodore Du Bois For Adaptation To Voices Of The Junior High School, Doris Eula Mae Sampson
All Theses
The establishment of the junior high school as a division of the public school system has had a profound influence upon the instructional work of the seventh, eighth, and ninth grades. Music, along with other subjects, has had to establish itself in an organization still more or less in the experimental stages. The junior high school is the newest and least-understood unit of the modern school system, and this situation has been reflected in the problems of its music department. For musical development, this arrangement has been fortunate in some ways and unfortunate in others. The fortunate part is due …
Analysis Of Diplomatic Relations Between The United States And Japan In Regard To China In The Last Decade (1928-38)., Earnest Greene Mayfield
Analysis Of Diplomatic Relations Between The United States And Japan In Regard To China In The Last Decade (1928-38)., Earnest Greene Mayfield
All Theses
The purpose of this thesis is to ascertain the problems which have arisen between the United States and Japan over China and how diplomacy has dealt with them in the past ten years. The problem of the Pacific is one that has added intensity to diplomatic relations between the United States and Japan since 1850. Due to the broad scope of relations between the United States and Japan, and limited material, the discussion will be limited to United States-Japanese diplomatic issues in regard to Japanese ambition in China. Due to the more recent events that have taken place between Japan …
A Survey Of The Eating Habits Of Fourteen Prairie View Training School Girls, Ethel Mae Williams
A Survey Of The Eating Habits Of Fourteen Prairie View Training School Girls, Ethel Mae Williams
All Theses
Most parents have come to the realization that it is impossible to have proper growth and development in a child unless he receives the necessary body building materials in his food.
Improper growth and development in a child may be due to diets which are insufficient in amounts, inadequate in nutritive elements, and to poor food habits that contribute to malnutrition, either through their effect on the total food eaten, or in the utilization of the food by the body.
The development and maintainment of the physical health of a child have come to be regarded as an important part …

A Proposed Vocational Guidance Program For The Colored High School Of Sunnyside, Texas, John Riley Sadberry
All Theses
PROBLEM: "A proposed Vocational Guidance Program For the Colored High School of Sunnyside; Texas" METHOD USED: Personal interview without form, and group conference.
As early as history records, man has attempted to live happy in the World about him. This happiness is the result of the satisfaction of his needs and wants. These in turn hinge around his economic, social, religious, and political survival in his struggle for existence. Man has been successful in passing through many social, religious, and political revolutions, but now he is faced with a still greater problem; this is the problem of adjustment in this …
A Study Of The Opinions Of Forty Freshmen Girls At Prairie View College About Home Economics Training, Julia Mae Tolliver
A Study Of The Opinions Of Forty Freshmen Girls At Prairie View College About Home Economics Training, Julia Mae Tolliver
All Theses
The public has been interested in Home Economics for a long time. In the lower grades, sewing was taught as early as 1798; in 1892, the introduction of sewing along with other industrial work in the public schools was legalized in Massachusetts. Domestic science was introduced into a large number of the public schools in the decade from 1880-1890. Courses in Home Economics in 1927 were offered in more than eight thousand public schools and also the number of private secondary schools. It has been found that Homemaking instruction has been given under several different titles. "Cooking and sewing" developed …
A Historical Analysis Of Methods Of Teaching History In Fifty-Two High Schools In Texas, Westerfield Althea Tucker
A Historical Analysis Of Methods Of Teaching History In Fifty-Two High Schools In Texas, Westerfield Althea Tucker
All Theses
What teachers have been confronted with is how to tell facts. That one could present a method in history to work under all conditions is absurd; the best that can be done is to lay down some general principles which when applied by some keenly alive teacher to the duties and appointment of his profession may aid him in securing the desired results. In the book entitled Practical Methods, Aids and Devices For Teaching, Beecher states in the words of Gudson that there are some people who think history a simple matter because forsooth it is merely the telling of …
Effects Of Periodic Injections Of Placental Extract And Post Pregnancy Urine On The Reproductive System Of Baby Chicks, Robert Franklin Brooks
Effects Of Periodic Injections Of Placental Extract And Post Pregnancy Urine On The Reproductive System Of Baby Chicks, Robert Franklin Brooks
All Theses
This study was initiated in an attempt to analyze the effect on the immature chick ovary of those fractions of the anterior lobe of the pituitary which, as has been stated before, produce follicle stimulation and luterization in the mammal and the action of these preparations when combined.
"The Scope Of Woodcraft For Home Economic Girls At Prairie View State College", Nola Thae Mcclinton
"The Scope Of Woodcraft For Home Economic Girls At Prairie View State College", Nola Thae Mcclinton
All Theses
In preparing this thesis I have constantly borne in mind the usefulness of woodcraft to the Home Economic Girls at Prairie View State College. I intend to encourage the development of an appreciation of the general principles of woodcraft rather than the practical method. To do this the students in woodcraft should be given an opportunity for the acquisition of skill in the handling of tools and some practice in designing simple projects in wood. The woodcraft industries in this country, particularly the building and furniture industries, are among the most important, because they employ thousands of highly skilled workmen, …
Some Difficulties Encountered By Students With Secondary Mathematics, Roscoe N. Rigmaiden
Some Difficulties Encountered By Students With Secondary Mathematics, Roscoe N. Rigmaiden
All Theses
Mathematics is a subject in which all schools require that you must enroll. Students who take up the study of mathematics find the work extremely difficult and distasteful. Such students frequently complain that they were good in Mathematics while in High School or that they have never studied Mathematics or that they have forgotten the mathematics necessary for their success in the course. This is not altogether surprising. It seems that the teachers in our secondary schools are too lenient, thus, over rating the student. The student then goes to college with little or no knowledge of mathematics.
The purpose …
Public Career Of James Guthrie (1792-1869)., Anna Ruth Spiegel
Public Career Of James Guthrie (1792-1869)., Anna Ruth Spiegel
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
James Guthrie, like any man, may be considered as a private individual, as a participant in the economic activities of his time, and as a citizen. Of Guthrie’s personal life little is known besides the barest biographical outline. His business career was fairly successful in reaping monetary rewards from his "lucrative law practice," his real estate transactions, and his participation in various corporate activities. This thesis is primarily concerned with Guthrie’s public life, with his services to his fellow citizens as city councilor, state legislator, state constitution reviser, Secretary of Treasury, United States Senator, and as a leader of the …

A Study Of The Teacher Placement Bureau Of The University Of New Mexico From 1929 To 1938, David H. Boyles
A Study Of The Teacher Placement Bureau Of The University Of New Mexico From 1929 To 1938, David H. Boyles
Teacher Education, Educational Leadership & Policy ETDs
In meeting the problem of securing qualified teachers in the past ten years New Mexico school administrators have shown a trend toward greater use of the institutional teacher placement bureaus. It is a purpose of this report to show to what extent the University is accepting the responbility of knowing the state's occupational needs, of selecting youth according to their abilities for fulfilling the varying needs, of aiding leaders in the field in making replacements and additions, of supplying adequate and proper preparation, of placing their graduates in positions, and of providing opportunities for their continued study and preparation.
A Criticism Of The Madras Conference From The Standpoint Of A Christian Believer, Wilbert Griesse
A Criticism Of The Madras Conference From The Standpoint Of A Christian Believer, Wilbert Griesse
Bachelor of Divinity
What a wonderful thing it would be if all the denominations could get together on a common ground and work together against ·the forces of sin and hell: What an impression that would make upon the world! Such a condition would greatly further the cause of missions. It was especially the younger churches that were crying for unity. The younger churches cannot understand the divisions and the multiplied organizations of the mother churches. If they are all Christian, why are they not united?
Tradition And Reason In The Roman Sacraments, Wilfred Janke
Tradition And Reason In The Roman Sacraments, Wilfred Janke
Bachelor of Divinity
The supernatural truth was revealed to man through the Word of God. To this the Roman Catholic Church adds the unwritten tradition committed to the Church. Both Protestants and Catholics agree that it is not enough that God should give His revelation to man, but that gift must be kept pure and unalloyed and entire, otherwise it would be valueless. God, therefore, must both provide the sacred source of truth and keep it clean and uncontaminated. So far the two bodies are agreed.
The Doctrine Of Justification By Faith The Leimotif Of The Apology Of The Augsburg Confession, Lorman Petersen
The Doctrine Of Justification By Faith The Leimotif Of The Apology Of The Augsburg Confession, Lorman Petersen
Bachelor of Divinity
The purpose of this thesis is not to present Catholic doctrine and refute it, but, self-evidently, to show that the Doctrine of Justification by Faith is the Leitmotif of the Apology. We make no claim that we have accomplished our purpose, or that we have done justice to this great Christ centered Confession of the Evangelical Lutheran Church. We have only scratched the surface of this document so rich in Christian doctrine. Melanchthon was a master-mind, and it takes a master-mind to follow him.
The Catechumenate Of The Church, G F. Busch
The Catechumenate Of The Church, G F. Busch
Bachelor of Divinity
In a Christian home the mother usually is the first teacher. And after Baptism the child is a child of God, and must then be brought up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, and this by means of living and instruction. It. is true, the child does not understand much at first, sometimes not even his own prayers, but it will soon learn to understand, and sometimes if mother forgets about the evening prayer, the child will remind her of it. And if we search the Scriptures, as Jesus commands us to do according to John 5,3, we …
Liberialism In Contrast To The Biblical Faith, William Grunow
Liberialism In Contrast To The Biblical Faith, William Grunow
Bachelor of Divinity
This paper is a study of the doctrines of Liberalism. By being thoroughly familiar with these doctrines, the student will not be misled by the sheep’s clothing of orthodox phraseology which Liberalists often employ.
The Internal Relationship, Linguistic And Theological, Between The Gospel Of John And The Epistles Of John, Marvin Kammrath
The Internal Relationship, Linguistic And Theological, Between The Gospel Of John And The Epistles Of John, Marvin Kammrath
Bachelor of Divinity
The intrinsic value of a paper such as the one here presented, lies not so much in the impression made by the finished product as in the profitable textual study which it entails. The task of digging deep into the language and theology of four books of the New Testament has been a pleasant one. In addition to the joy of working with the original Greek of the sacred New Testament, of making careful literal translations and thorough exegetical studies, there has been the added satisfaction of unfolding cumulative doctrinal evidence overwhelming in its depth and extent.
The Fulfillment Of Old Testament Prophecy In The Gospel Of St Matthew Exegetically And Doctrinally Treated, Herbert Goerss
The Fulfillment Of Old Testament Prophecy In The Gospel Of St Matthew Exegetically And Doctrinally Treated, Herbert Goerss
Bachelor of Divinity
Matthew has some 27 prophecy quotations in his Gospel. We list them here as they occur from time to time in the Gospel, giving the location of the fulfillment, the subject prophesied, and the location of the prophecy. Of course, in some cases, various prophecies have the same fulfillment.
The Knowledge And Use Of The Bible In The Medieval Age, Martin Bertermann
The Knowledge And Use Of The Bible In The Medieval Age, Martin Bertermann
Bachelor of Divinity
In attempting to show precisely to what extent the new learning pervaded the countries of Europe during the Middle Ages, and, specifically, just in how far the Bible was known among the clergy and laity, one must be careful to strive for the golden mean in interpreting a flood of literature which usually goes to one of two extremes. The first of these divergent opinions is the one mentioned above, that the Bible, as almost wholly unknown by the clergy and laity of the Middle Ages. And this would seem to be substantiated by no less an authority than Luther …
The Use Of Hades In The New Testament, Louis Meyer
The Use Of Hades In The New Testament, Louis Meyer
Bachelor of Divinity
The word hades (sheol) presents a problem--a matter on which the theologians or our own Synod are not agreed. Many of them believe that the word has various meanings--that in certain passages it means hell, while in other passages it has a general meaning, namely, "the state of death”. There are also those who are of the conviction that the term is never used to designate hell, the place of eternal punishment, but only means "the state or condition of death".
It is the latter view which, after careful study of the problem, I consider to be the more correct …
Demoniac Possession, Harold Maleske
Demoniac Possession, Harold Maleske
Bachelor of Divinity
Among the many miracles which the synoptic Gospels record, special prominence is given to the casting out of demons or devils who possessed those unfortunate people commonly known as demoniacs. In order to clarify the Biblical concept of demoniac possession, the following facts concerning the Scriptural doctrine of the devil and his hosts must be considered.
An Attempt To Devise A Method For The Determination Of The Concentration Gradient In And Electrolyte Between Two Electrodes, Joseph J. Garvey
An Attempt To Devise A Method For The Determination Of The Concentration Gradient In And Electrolyte Between Two Electrodes, Joseph J. Garvey
Bachelors’ Theses
Nowhere in the literature of chemistry can there he found a practical method for the determination of the concentration changes in a solution when subjected to an electric current. It is the purpose of this thesis to devise a method for this determination.
The Prophecies Of Balam, Theodore Martin
The Prophecies Of Balam, Theodore Martin
Master of Sacred Theology Thesis
Balaam is known largely because of his connection with the story of the ass that spoke, and, while critics point the skeptical finger and rant against the incredible nature of the narrative, they make the usual mistake of drawing attention away from the important part, the prophecies, and centering it on one incident, which is perhaps more striking, although merely incidental.
The Opposition To Statehood Within The Territory Of New Mexico, 1888-1903, Archie M. Mcdowell
The Opposition To Statehood Within The Territory Of New Mexico, 1888-1903, Archie M. Mcdowell
History ETDs
The purpose of this thesis is to identify indications of opposition to statehood within New Mexico between the years 1888 and 1902. The sources of information were newspapers of the territory published during those years, government documents, letters and several other miscellaneous sources.
The first chapter of the thesis [discusses] the nature and scope of the endeavor, with the attitude of political parties and leaders, both national and within the territory; the events occurring during the elimination of New Mexico from the Omnibus bill; and gives a summary of the reasons generally advanced in favor of admission.
The second chapter …
The Morphology And Histology Of The Virginia Oyster, Ostrea Virginica, Lister, Lewis Charles Goldstein
The Morphology And Histology Of The Virginia Oyster, Ostrea Virginica, Lister, Lewis Charles Goldstein
Master's Theses
The oyster has been known and used commercially since before the Roman and Greek civilizations, and reports of investigations pertaining to it can be found dating back almost to that period. Because of the commercial value of the oyster, most of the study of' the animal has dealt with its economic importance. Definite information concern ing the morphology and microscopic . structure of this Mollusc, therefore, is scarce. To be sure, there is an abundance of miscellaneous literature, but no systematic microscopic study has been reported. T. C . Nelson (1938) states, "A critical survey of the abundant and scattered …
The Existence Theorem Of Ordinary Differential Equations, Harris J. Dark
The Existence Theorem Of Ordinary Differential Equations, Harris J. Dark
Master's Theses
There are a great many devices for solving differential equations of certain special forms. But there is a large number of classes of differential equations that are not included in these special forms and cannot be integrated by quadratures or other purely elementary methods. When mathematicians were forced to abandon their cherished hope of finding a method for expressing the solution of every differential equation in terms of a finite number of known functions or their integrals they turned their attention to the question of whether a differential equation in general had a solution at all, and, if so, of …
