The Willow Family has become somewhat neglected by classes in taxonomy and the botanist in general because of not having a key -- except in one or two cases, that takes into consideration characters other than the fruits or capsules. To identify a willow in late summer is almost impossible by the beginning botanist, because few, if any, flowers, fruits and capsules can be found. It has been shown that cuprous oxide, when formed from a copper surface by suitable heat treatment, has remarkable rectifying properties towards alternating voltages applied through the oxide and copper. The purpose of our work was to investigate, the effect fully from all angles possible, and especially from those considerations affecting the constancy and permanence in the electric circuit.

The work ranged from furnace operation to tests of completed units, and further to the development of a theory explaining as completely as possible this rectifying property.

On January 16, 1908, the State Board of Land Commissioners, on behalf of the State of Utah, undertook to build a reclamation project in the Sevier River Valley, intended to reclaim between 25,000 to 35,000 acres of the virgin lands lying on the west side of Sevier River in Sevier and San Pete Counties. From January, 1908 to January, 1914, the State expended nearly $1,000,000 for the construction of the reservior dm and the canal leading from it. Since that time nearly $200,000 has been spent for supplementary construction. This money was supplied by the State Reservior Land Grant Fund, …

Several wheat characters have been shown to exhibit rather complicated inheritance. Examples are such characters as culm length, spike density, and awn classes. This paper reports a study of the inheritance and of the correlated inheritance of these and some other plant characters in a cross between a hybrid of Dicklow X Sevier (III C 18) with Federation.

This thesis traces the development of the Negro in American literature from its origins in the spirituals through the flowering of the "New Negro" Renaissance of the early twentieth century. Arnaud opens by defining literature as the artistic record of a people's inner life and argues that Negro literary expression developed first through song, tracing the movement from oral spirituals through the early poetry of the enslaved and freed population toward increasingly sophisticated literary forms.

The war revenue act of July 1, 1862, was repealed July 14 1870. The revenue act of August 27, 1894 was declared unconstitutional because of its income tax feature. The war revenue act of June 13, 1989 was repealed April 13, 1902. The present federal estate tax was formed September 8, 1916. Jacob Nicolaus Bernoulli (1654-1705) wrote a work on "Ars Conjectandi." It was published eight years after his death. The work consists of four parts. The second part is on permutations and combinations, which Bernoulli used in a proof of the binomial theorem for the case of positive integral exponents. The book contains a formula for the sum of the rth powers of the first n integers. This involves the famous Bernouillian numbers. Bernouilli boasted that by means of his formula he could calculate "Intra semi-quadrantem Horae" the sum of the 10th power: the first thousand integers.
