A Comparison Of The Uses Of Astrology In The Works Of John Gower And Geoffrey Chaucer, George Rufus Wyatt Jr.
A Comparison Of The Uses Of Astrology In The Works Of John Gower And Geoffrey Chaucer, George Rufus Wyatt Jr.
Master's Theses
The literary interest in astrology which had been gradually increasing during the fourteenth century in England, culminated in the works of Geoffrey Chaucer and John Gower. It is not surprising that these two poets have used astrology very extensively in writing stories for their medieval audiences since the average man in the Middles Ages believed that life depended upon the influences of the seven planets in their positions in the zodiac. It is the purpose of this thesis to present a comparison of the uses of the astrological material in the works of Geoffrey Chaucer and John Gower. In this …

Plastics In Industrial Arts, Edward Ernest Escoe Jr.
Plastics In Industrial Arts, Edward Ernest Escoe Jr.
All Theses
For a long time the public has expressed a keen interest in synthetic materials, whether as substitutes for natural resources that will one day be exhausted, or as improvements upon natural materials whose limitations have become apparent. Among all the products and processes that chemistry has found, none has attracted more attention than plastics. During the last two decades, there has been tremendous development in the plastics industry. War-time conditions multiplied enormously the uses of this product. Every day new uses are found for this material and it is no longer considered as a substitute for scarce materials. Plastic articles …

The Effect Of Land Use On The Standards Of Living In Anderson County, Texas, Alexander Isaac Smith
All Theses
The standard of living of any nation, state, or segment thereof is determined in a large measure by how efficient its citizens use their land. Every individual regardless of his economic condition is dependent on the land, directly or indirectly, for his living.
The problem of making a living confronts the farmers and other citizens of Anderson County, and not a few recognize the fact that their standard of living will definitely be determined by the use of the land in the county. In the not too distant past, only a few citizens were aware of the fact that the …

These certification requirements form the primary motive for making this investigation.
Hypothesis and Assumptions
In launching this investigation the writer has assumed the following factors: all states have standards for certification of industrial art teachers; determining the requirements devolve …

A Study Of The Government And Labor Relations In The Atomic Energy Industry, Darryl Cottrell Bishop
All Theses
The author is of the opinion that the atomic energy industry will continue to have increasing effect upon our total economy. This study is an attempt to show in a modified legal way the relationship of the Government, industry, and workers in labor relations in the atomic energy industry. Undertaking a study of the atomic energy industry and labor relations has called for employment of distinctively classified data. Even with this handicap, the materials have been adequate, and have shown trends which point toward an industry of magnanimous scope for our American civilization. The successful completion of a problem involving …

Runaway Slaves In Texas From 1830 To 1860, Marjorie Browne Hawkins

Slavery In The Economy Of Matagorda County, Texas 1836-1860, Hal Robbins, Jr.
All Theses
Narrating the history of the slave in the economy of Matagorda County, Texas, faces the problem of conflicting theories that have run the gamut of national, southern, and state, as well as county history, unbridled for many years. Many of these theories range from superstition to hearsays, with little or any factual supporting evidence. Out of a desire to learn the true perspective and a natural curiosity for seeking the truth, the writer takes on himself the task of digging into the mysteries of slavery in the county. This study attempts to present philosophies and facts with a minimum use …

Currlculums have been revised and relationships with higher institutions of education …

Third, to establish in my own mind the relative need of speech education in our own geographical area, to see if conditions there are comparable to those reported for the other parts …
