2. Where are public schools located that have an Indian enrollment of twenty-five or more?
3.Do parochial schools indicate where Indian populations are concentrated?
4. What is the total 1963-64 Indian enrollment in public, federal, and …

A Descriptive Analysis Of The Effectiveness Of Broadcasting By The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints In The Northern States Mission Area, Robert W. Donigan Jan 1964

A Descriptive Analysis Of The Effectiveness Of Broadcasting By The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints In The Northern States Mission Area, Robert W. Donigan

Theses and Dissertations

There has been no systematic study of the effectiveness of broadcasting by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since the advent of TV and the nation-wide telecasting of the Annual and Semi-Annual General Conferences of the Church each April and October. In addition to determining effectiveness, there is a need to discover to what degree people watch or listen to religious programming in general, and what types of religious programs they wouldm most like to have available.

The Northern States Mission of the Church, including all or part of Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Indiana, was seleceted as a …

Changes In The Vegetation Of Two Restricted Areas Of The Wasatch Plateau As Related To Reduced Grazing And Complete Protection, Hyrum B. Johnson

Theses and Dissertations

An understanding of the interactions betnen vegetation and livestock grazing is of paramount importance to the welfare of the livestock industry. It is also important to know how these interactions affect the balance of the ecosystem. In general, observations of changes in vegetation provide an index for evaluating such interactions. Vegetation change is the main object of consideration in this paper. The study is concerned with some of the oldest pemanent native vegetation study plots in the Western United States. They are located on Horseshoe Flats of the Wasatch Plateau in Central Utah.

Management Of A Recreation Service To The Pakistani Personnel Of The Mangla Dam Contractors, Buford Otis Bush

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

The purposes of this study were to identify acceptable procedures for organizing, managing and administering a recreation service; to state objectives; to define the role of the project recreation manager; to establish procedures for management; and to set the pattern of relationships between the project recreation manager and the Pakistani assistant recreation managers.

Because as Allen states, “organization is, essentially, organization for for management and the structure of the business itself cannot be designed successfully unless we know the purpose of that which we build”, it became important to correlate the organization of the study with the organization of the …

Chalcone Derivatives From Pyrrole-2-Aldehyde, Ahmad Hamidi Jan 1964

Chalcone Derivatives From Pyrrole-2-Aldehyde, Ahmad Hamidi

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

Claisen first synthesized Chalcone in 1881 by condensing acetophenone with benzaldehyde using sodium methoxide as a condensing agent. Chalcone and its derivatives have been prepared primarily as intermediates for the synthesis of anthocyanins and other related pigments.

In recent years extensive preparation and study of chalcones has been carried out utilizing chalcones for their biological effects in medical and pharmaceutical fields. It has been shown that certain highly substituted compounds present in the flower pigments as additives to adhesive absorb ultraviolet radiation. Carboxylic acid chalcones have become known for their therapeutic action in the treatment of chronic kidney diseases, diseases …

Structural Analysis Of Open Channels On Elastic Foundation., Wan-Cheng Liu Jan 1964

Structural Analysis Of Open Channels On Elastic Foundation., Wan-Cheng Liu

Masters Theses

"This study is to analyze continuous open channels used for fluid flow and supported on soil which is considered to provide an elastic foundation. The basic assumption is that the reaction forces of the foundation are proportional at every point to the deflection of the channel at that point. The walls of the channel are considered vertical in all cases but are subjected to various lateral pressures due to different embankment loading conditions"-- Abstract, p. ii

An Analysis Of Cytological Screening For Cervical Cancer (A 7 Year Survey), Phoebe E. Rutherford Jan 1964

An Analysis Of Cytological Screening For Cervical Cancer (A 7 Year Survey), Phoebe E. Rutherford

Masters Theses

It is the purpose of this study to review the cervical cancers, stained by Papanicolaou (1956:3-6) method, at Borgess Hospital, Kalamazoo, Michigan, from September, 1956 to September 1963.

A previous analysis of the cytological screening at Borgess Hospital to ascertain the per coat accuracy in cervical diagnoses, was made by the investigator in June, 1961. This study, covering a four year period, draw attention to the fact that the patients with invasive carcinoma were in a much older age group than any other reported series studies. This fact plus the rapid recognition, by physicians and patients, of the value …

The Reaction Of Ketosemicarbazones With Lead Tetraacetate, Thomas M. Davies Jan 1964

The Reaction Of Ketosemicarbazones With Lead Tetraacetate, Thomas M. Davies

Masters Theses

Introduction

It has been demonstrated that lead tetraacetate will oxidize ketohydrazones to azoacetates in good yields (11).

R2C=N-NH-R + Pb(OAc)4 ------> R2C(OAc)-N=N-R + Pb(OAc)2 + HOAc

Since ketosemicarbazones are structurally equivalent to ketohydrazones, it was thought that the reaction of ketosemicarbazones with lead tetraacetate would proceed in a similar manner. Originally the object of this research was to prepare a series of new azo compounds related to semicarbazones by lead tetraacetate oxidation.
