A communication training program for ski instructors will be implemented. Neurodivergent (ND) adolescents tend to struggle with participating in physical activity (PA) compared to their neurotypical (NT) peers. Current programs available that focus on PA are competitive and can add anxiety to an already difficult adjustment. This doctoral capstone project investigates the effect of participation in PA on social emotional well-being in ND adolescents. An 8-week PA program was created and implemented in this pre-post test quasi-experimental study.

Childhood bereavement is experienced by one in eleven children by age eighteen and is associated with a range of symptoms that impact function (Judi’s House, 2024; Stikkelbroek et al., 2016). Bereaved children often show increased internalizing symptoms for more than two years following loss and demonstrate challenges with self-regulation, which can impact a child’s participation in their everyday environments (Edgar-Bailey & Kress, 2010; Stikkelbroek et al., 2016). The purpose of this capstone is to gain an understanding of how sensory-based mindfulness strategies impact feelings of anxiety and depression amongst older adults living in an assisted living facility. Anxiety and depression are extremely prevalent among residents in assisted living facilities, with depression affecting 29% of older adults and anxiety affecting 20%. This capstone project aimed to implement a six-week education course on neurodiverse-affirming care to caregivers of neurodiverse children at Extraordinary Kids Therapy outpatient clinic in Chepachet RI. The goal of this capstone project was to increase confidence and knowledge of neurodiverse-affirming care in the caregivers participating in the course. To analyze the impact of the education course, pre and post surveys, along with semi-structured asynchronous zoom interviews were administered and analyzed.

Purpose: The proposed doctoral capstone aims to measure the utilization and impacts of pediatric caregiver programming on therapeutic engagement and wellbeing. A scoping literature review and needs assessment of pediatric caregivers of children receiving OT services found that limited access to quality, caregiver-specific resources and programming impact the wellbeing of caregivers, their ability to care for their child, and their confidence and ability to engage in the therapeutic process. The Emergency Nurses Association and the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses have called for the establishment of a healthy work environment (HWE) to improve outcomes, reduce burnout and turnover, and increase job satisfaction. Inpatient nursing shift assignments often rely on clinical judgment, which can lead to inequitable workload distribution on mixed‑acuity units. This quality improvement project evaluated assignment equity using the coefficient of variation (CV) of nursing workload acuity scores and examined the relationship between workload balance and perceived assignment burden. A single‑group pretest–posttest design was implemented on a cardiac adaptable acuity unit at Stanford Health Care over a 12‑week period, encompassing 168 shifts from December 14, 2025, to March 7, 2026. Despite extensive academic research and media coverage on refugees and undocumented migrants in Spain, these narratives often remain disconnected. This gap raises concerns about whether research fully captures the lived realities of displaced individuals. This qualitative study examines whether existing literature aligns with the experiences of refugees in Alcálá de Henares, Spain. Structured interviews were conducted with a refugee center director, a volunteer Spanish teacher, a refugee, and an undocumented migrant. This capstone proposes an alternative learning program, where learning in the third space of a bookstore café is developed in St. Ann, Jamaica. The program responds to gaps in culturally relevant, community-centered educational spaces that reflect Jamaican heritage, support diverse learning styles, and extend beyond traditional classroom structures. During the last decade, in the town of Kargi, Kenya, the severity and frequency of drought conditions have become a common trend. Consequently, pastoralist households have become displaced often to nearby town centers. This research investigates shifts in livelihood experiences of drought-displaced Rendille pastoralists in Kargi town, Marsabit County in Northern Kenya. The study employed Thematic Analysis to identify patterns and relationships in qualitative data from household and key informant interviews to investigate shifts in livelihood outcomes. Dexmedetomidine (DEX) is an alpha-2 adrenergic agonist increasingly studied as an adjunct in brachial plexus blocks (BPBs) to enhance postoperative pain management. This project examines the efficacy of DEX as an adjunct in BPBs for upper extremity arthroscopic surgeries, focusing on its ability to extend analgesia duration, reduce opioid use, and enhance patient satisfaction. With analgesic and sedative properties, DEX can improve postoperative pain management with minimal side effects, providing shortened hospital stays, decreased costs, and better patient outcomes. This study quantifies macroalgal coverage and benthic composition across monitoring sites in Sarasota Bay, Florida during 2022 to 2024. By using photo-quadrat imagery, percent cover was calculated to assess tempo-spatial patterns in macroalgal abundance. Results revealed seasonal fluctuations with peaks during spring months under favorable temperature and light conditions. Filamentous brown algae and cyanobacteria emerged across quadrants as disturbance-tolerant taxa. These algae forms often co-occurred with seagrass beds and suggested potential competitive interactions. Through comparative analysis of these results with Sarasota Bay Estuary Program data, there was an indication of localized increases in macroalgal abundance. This work explores microalgae within three contexts: micromanipulation of microalgae for isolation, testing of Dunaliella salina movement conditions, and photobioreactor designs that incorporate sculptural elements. To micromanipulate microalgae, a protocol using micropipettes for the isolation of single cells from a mixed sample was developed. To test the movement preferences of the microalgae, Dunaliella salina, an experiment was conducted using five treatments: a fast and slow orbital movement, a fast and slow rate of added bubbling, and a control treatment with no added movement.
