Human-caused ignitions account for most wildfires in the United States, particularly along roadsides, utility corridors, and other high-risk infrastructure where fine fuels are abundant and ignition sources are concentrated. These settings are often embedded within grassland and shrubland ecosystems, where fires spread rapidly and can threaten nearby communities and assets. Preventative fire-retardant products (PFRPs) have emerged as a promising strategy for reducing ignition likelihood in these environments. Unlike traditional aerial retardants applied during active suppression, PFRPs are designed for annual, pre-season application to ignition-prone locations. Changing Vitis vinifera ripening patterns as a result of increasing climate variability has provided challenges against the production of wines with a balanced sensory profile, with adequate acidity, color, aroma, and texture. This thesis aimed to evaluate the ripening patterns and wine profiles of potentially climate-adaptive Mediterranean varietals in two different California Central Coast climates. Multilingual learners need intentional support to develop academic language and access grade-level content. However, many educators need additional knowledge and training to use scaffolding strategies and instructional modifications effectively in their classrooms.

This capstone explores how research-based strategies, including academic language supports, visuals, sentence frames, and differentiated instruction, support multilingual learners. Information was collected through a literature review, classroom observations, educator interviews, and school visits during a study abroad experience in Wales.

Findings showed that effective instruction for multilingual learners requires purposeful planning, collaboration, and a focus on students’ linguistic and cultural identities. The experiences in Wales connected with research …

We describe the development of a novel emulator for the fission fragment decay code, $\texttt{CGMF}$, which calculates the emission of prompt neutrons and $\gamma$ rays from fission fragments.  The emulator described in this work uses a combination of a noisy emission model and mixture density network to model the neutron and $\gamma$-ray multiplicities and energies.  In this manuscript, we display the power of this type of emulator for not only modeling average prompt fission observables but also correlations between fission fragment initial conditions and these observables, using both neutron-induced and spontaneous fission reactions. This quantitative content analysis investigates the representation of Latina girls and women in children’s books across two distinct publishing periods. Drawing on foundational scholarship in gender and racial representation in children’s literature (Casey, 2021; Hamilton et al., 2006; Leslie, 2021; Pérez Huber, 2018; Paynter, 2011; Weitzman et al., 1972), and informed by the emergence of multiracial feminism in the 1990s, the study examines a total of forty books, using the book as the unit of analysis (20 published in 1995 and 20 in 2025). This dissertation compares the occupational development of midwifery in the United States and Germany between the 1850s and the 1920s. It examines how midwifery in nineteenth-century Germany developed into an early paraprofession through its inclusion in the paramedical division of labor and the creation of professional associations and a trade journal. In the United States, by contrast, such a development did not occur. Instead, physicians excluded midwives from the emerging paramedical division of labor. This dissertation addresses a lacuna within patristic scholarship on the doctrine of the Holy Spirit. Though the fourth century patristic writer known as “Macarius” addresses the theology of the Holy Spirit with unmatched depth and vibrancy, his pneumatological understanding has not yet been addressed adequately. Consequently, through a close literary analysis of the Spirit’s activity in the Macarian writings, this study proposes a threefold framework within which Macarius’ vision of the Spirit can be clearly perceived. Dedicated breast X-ray computed tomography (breast CT) is a developing imaging modality that has potential as an alternative to mammography. Unlike traditional mammography, breast CT offers high-resolution, fully 3D anatomical detail, which aids in the detection of microcalfications and subtle lesions that are potential indicators of cancer. To be effective for screening, breast CT must limit radiation exposure by reducing CT view angles. However, traditional image reconstruction methods yield noisy, artifacted images in this sparse-view CT setting. This qualitative phenomenological study examined how professional dispositions were defined, experienced, and assessed in coaching education within the rapidly expanding field of professional coaching. The problem addressed was the lack of a clear understanding of professional dispositions in coaching and the absence of a systematic dispositional assessment comparable to that in counselor education. The researcher’s purpose was to explore how credentialed professional-level coaches defined and identified professional dispositions for effective coaching engagements and how these dispositions aligned with constructs in other helping professions. This study investigated special education teachers’ (SETs) perceptions of workload manageability and the relationship between these perceptions and intentions to quit. State-wide data from the Kansas State Department of Education showed a significant increase in the number of special education vacancies from a total of 161, or .03% in the 2019-2020 school year to 557, or 11%, in the 2024-2025 school year. Over the past four years, the number of special education teachers with a non-traditional license has increased from 312, or 6%, in the 2021-2022 school year to 427, or 8%, in the 2024-2025 school year (KSDE, 2025). The first project is about investigating computationally cheaper approximation methods for modeling EMRI (extreme mass ratio inspiral) orbits using interpolation. A study was done to evaluate the survival of Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) on directly and soil-inoculated in-shell pecans over a 28-day period, determine STEC reductions after treatment with individual and sequential antimicrobial washes on direct and soil-inoculated in-shell pecans, and determine the cross-contamination potential of the spent pecan washes after a treatment. Pecans were directly and soil-inoculated with an STEC cocktail (O157:H7, O157:NM, O121, and O26). Direct inoculation was achieved by spraying the STEC cocktail on the pecans and homogenizing by hand for 2 min.
