Generating Content With Cryptographically Verifiable Atomic Facts, Sandeep Kumar Sep 2026

Generating Content With Cryptographically Verifiable Atomic Facts, Sandeep Kumar

Defensive Publications Series

Systems and methods are described that can use a decoupled architecture to separate data generation from data presentation. A data generation layer can extract atomic facts from source documents and apply a per-value cryptographic token to each fact, creating a verifiable link to its origin using, for example, hashes and digital signatures. A verifiable presentation layer can then use a gatekeeper mechanism to cryptographically validate each fact's token before rendering the fact. This approach can enable granular, per-fact verification at the point of presentation, which may reduce the likelihood of displaying unverified data.

Intelligent Universal Power Connection Fabric For Dynamic Datacenter Rack Deployment, N/A Sep 2026

Intelligent Universal Power Connection Fabric For Dynamic Datacenter Rack Deployment, N/A

Defensive Publications Series

An intelligent DC power connection fabric integrates into datacenter infrastructure as a network of high-density smart nodes arranged in a floor or overhead grid. A hardware rack connects to the nearest smart node, and the system automatically senses the rack’s specific power requirements, including voltage, amperage, and phase. The system then negotiates a safe power delivery profile and dynamically routes the corresponding power configuration to that node. This process occurs without manual physical re-wiring, which decouples hardware placement from fixed electrical outlet specifications. This flexible deployment for racks with diverse power needs reduces deployment delays and stranded capacity within the …

A Transactional Provenance Framework For Causal And Counterfactual Debugging In Multi-Agent Ai Systems, Niranjan M M Sep 2026

A Transactional Provenance Framework For Causal And Counterfactual Debugging In Multi-Agent Ai Systems, Niranjan M M

Defensive Publications Series

Multi-agent AI systems are increasingly used to perform complex, high-impact tasks by coordinating multiple autonomous or semi-autonomous agents with distinct roles such as planning, execution, validation, safety enforcement, and tool invocation. While such systems offer significant flexibility and scalability, their distributed and emergent behavior makes them difficult to understand, debug, and govern, particularly when failures manifest as subtle misbehavior rather than explicit errors.

The proposal presents a transactional provenance framework for causal and counterfactual debugging in multi-agent AI systems. The framework captures the evolution of a multi-agent system as a set of verifiable, causally linked transactions that record agent state …

Human–wildlife conservation requires understanding both ecological processes and human behavior. In this talk, I discuss work from my PhD, Social Ecological Practice Theory, and demonstrate its application through two applied case studies: human–carnivore interactions in Botswana and my current work as Director of the University of California, Berkeley’s California Wolf Project. Together, these examples illustrate how integrating social and ecological perspectives can inform more effective and durable conservation strategies.

Dr. Contrarian: A Persona-Driven Conversational Ai Agent For Coaching Argumentative Reasoning In Infectious Disease Classroom Debates, Khayriyyah Mohd Hanafiah

Biology Faculty/Staff Publications

Critical thinking and persuasive communication are essential for biology graduates navigating socioscientific dilemmas. While debate pedagogy fosters problem-solving, autonomy, competence, and relatedness aligned with adult learning and self-determination theories, inexperienced students often struggle with the cognitive load and anxiety from this format. To bridge this gap, “Dr. Contrarian,” a persona-based conversational AI agent, was developed to function as an adversarial coach during debate preparation. Survey data (n = 21) adapted from the Technology Acceptance Model show that 85.7% of students found the tool easy to use, and 71.4% would use it again. Thematic analysis of metacognitive reflections suggests that while …

“Whenever You Are Using Media, You Should Always Have A Purpose”: A Study Of Chinese Immigrant Mothers’ Media Practices, Xiaoning Gui, Daniel G. Krutka

Journal of Media Literacy Education Pre-Prints

This qualitative study explores how eleven Mandarin-speaking Chinese immigrant mothers of young children in a southwestern U.S. city navigate and mediate media in their households. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews. Findings show mothers balance media’s educational affordances with concerns about health and age-appropriate content, employing gatekeeping, time limits, and purposeful sharing. Mothers described children as learners, co-learners, and cultural connectors, sometimes reversing mediation by teaching mothers about U.S. media norms. Interpreted through a lens of Culturally Sustaining Pedagogy while also drawing on Confucian concepts, results underscore the need for early childhood educators to honor immigrant families’ practices while fostering …

Why Ai-Generated Stems Can't Reach 6 Lu, And What Unflatten Does About It, Hector Santiago

Defensive Publications Series

Mixes built from printed stems (AI-generated, source-separated, or pre-compressed bounces) measure a loudness range (EBU Tech 3342 LRA) of about 4 LU and cannot be brought into a 6–12 LU window by balance changes or section automation, because their range is uniform inside every 3-second window. This disclosure describes a pre-mastering stage that applies slow macro-dynamic expansion to the whole mix — K-weighted 3-second short-term loudness, a fixed user-selected ratio (1.5 / 1.8 / 2.2), a pivot equal to the mix's whole-song BS.1770 integrated loudness measured once, a ±4 dB clamp and a 1-second glide — offered automatically when a …

A Cognitive Accessibility Framework For Mitigating Resumption Lag Using Transitional Context Lobbies, Rachit Mathur, Payal Shah Sep 2026

A Cognitive Accessibility Framework For Mitigating Resumption Lag Using Transitional Context Lobbies, Rachit Mathur, Payal Shah

Defensive Publications Series

This disclosure presents a cognitive accessibility framework designed to mitigate "resumption lag" and severe cognitive friction during task resumption in modern software ecosystems. While existing operating systems and web browsers facilitate context-switching away from tasks, they universally lack a mechanism to re-onboard users when they switch back, forcing users to manually reconstruct their working memory. To address this accessibility barrier, we introduce Transitional Context Lobbies—an additional strategic UI layer that re-orients users returning to suspended workspaces. The primary inventive step is a client-side engine utilizing Teleological Intent Parsing to translate a user's past behaviors, interactions, and browsing data into a …

Aspen Health On Cedar Mountain: What Landowners Should Know, Justin Derose, Darren Mcavoy

All Current Publications

Aspen forests are among the most valuable parts of the Cedar Mountain area in southwest Utah and of Utah's landscapes. They provide wildlife habitat, improve scenery, help slow wildfire spread, and support healthy watersheds and grazing lands. Cedar Mountain’s aspen forests are changing. The landscape still supports significant aspen acreage, but many stands are aging and losing mature trees faster than they are being replaced. Researchers studied the area to assess the health of the aspen forest over many years, beginning in 2008; this fact sheet discusses the results. It also provides management considerations.

Toward Efficient Small Organic Molecule Electrooxidation: Catalyst Interface Engineering, Peiyun Zhou, Ligang Feng Sep 2026

Toward Efficient Small Organic Molecule Electrooxidation: Catalyst Interface Engineering, Peiyun Zhou, Ligang Feng

Online First

Electrooxidation of small organic molecules (e.g., methanol, urea, 5-hydroxymethylfurfural) represents a promising strategy to replace the kinetically sluggish oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in water electrolysis, thereby reducing hydrogen production energy consumption and simultaneously achieving co-production of value-added chemicals or degradation of environmental pollutants. However, single-component catalysts often struggle to achieve efficient coupling between organic molecules and OER-derived oxygen species. This review addresses this challenge by highlighting the pivotal role of catalyst interface engineering (including reconstruction), drawing on our series of studies and relevant important reports. By constructing heterointerfaces, electronic structures can be modulated and intermediate adsorption optimized, thereby enhancing the …
