Throughout the United States, there is a discernible movement towards a more localized food system. Asserting that movement practices can minimize detrimental effects to the environment while providing benefits to human nutrition, community well being and social justice, those promoting food system localization engage in practices which aim to resist the globalizing and industrializing food and agriculture system. Despite these aims, however, the discourses and practices of the movement could be veiling inequalities which limit opportunity for participation in food system localization. Establishing adequacy of psychometric properties of an instrument involves acquisition and evaluation of evidence based on item content and internal structure. Content validity evidence consists of subject matter experts providing quantitative ratings of the extent to which items are a representative sample of targeted domain. Evidence of internal structure includes factor analytic studies and examination of item interrelationships based on item responses from participants. Although subject matter expert ratings and participant response data are traditionally analyzed separately, each serves to inform the other in important ways. Research on the impacts of wildfire and invasive plants in rangelands has focused on biophysical rather than human dimensions of these environmental processes. We offer a synthetic perspective on economic and social aspects of wildfire and invasive plants in American deserts, focusing on the Great Basin because greater research attention has been given to the effects of cheatgrass expansion than to other desert wildfire/invasion cycles. We focus first on impacts at the level of the individual decision-maker, then on impacts experienced at the human community or larger socio-political scales. Upon entering the new millennium, the University of Wyoming Libraries have expanded traditional one-shot library instruction and desk-bound reference into a suite of embedded services including reference, instruction, and curriculum and general education planning. Increased enrollment, along with increases in librarian consultations and instruction, have provided opportunities for innovation. Growing numbers of online students at the university encourage librarians to hone distance services and to experiment with new delivery methods. The advent of rapid complete genome sequencing, and the potential to capture this information in genome-scale metabolic models, provide the possibility of comprehensively modeling microbial community interactions. For example, Rhodoferax and Geobacter species are acetate-oxidizing Fe(III)-reducers that compete in anoxic subsurface environments and this competition may have an influence on the in situ bioremediation of uranium-contaminated groundwater. Therefore, genome-scale models of Geobacter sulfurreducens and Rhodoferax ferrireducens were used to evaluate how Geobacter and Rhodoferax species might compete under diverse conditions found in a uranium-contaminated aquifer in Rifle, CO. The use of electronic-based physical access cards to secure premises such as government buildings and large corporate offices has been in operation since the inception of bar code and magnetic-stripe cards in the 1970s. Over time, for secure access control, these first generation card technologies based on optical character recognition (OCR) and magnetic ink character recognition (MICR) were replaced by more sophisticated technologies such as smart cards and biometrics, containing encrypted data and techniques which were more difficult to dupe or to replicate \cite{michael2003a}.

Hog–plum is a tree species with edible fruits. The plant is naturally distributed in the tropical areas of the Indian subcontinent. Our effort to introduce it in the semi– arid conditions of western India failed as the plants developed severe shot–hole type leaf spot symptoms. Association of a fungus with the disease was detected and its pathogenicity was established. The pathogen was identified to the genus level (Colletotrichum) based on the morphological and molecular markers.

This paper explores whether different forms of economic freedom drive fiscal performance. We also seek to determine which specific measurements of economic freedom have the most statistically significant impacts. Though the results of our analysis show that economic freedom does impact levels of per capita GDP, the interpretation of these results is more complicated. Because some indices of economic freedom have negative effects on per capita GDP or are statistically insignificant, it is important to note that simply generally increasing a country’s overall level of economic freedom will not necessarily spur economic growth or increase fiscal performance. While promising results have been forthcoming, it has been difficult to present models that allowed those outside a small circle of specialists to participate. BACKGROUND: Mammalian oocyte activation occurs via a series of intracellular calcium (Ca(2+)) oscillations thought to be induced by a sperm-specific phospholipase C zeta (PLCζ). There is now strong evidence to indicate that certain types of human male infertility are caused by failure of the sperm to activate the oocyte in an appropriate manner. Molecular analysis of the PLCζ gene of a male patient with oocyte activation deficiency has previously identified a point mutation causing a histidine to proline substitution at PLCζ residue 398 (PLCζ(H398P)), leading to abnormal Ca(2+) release profiles and reduced oocyte activation efficiency.
