Twenty Years Later: Measuring The Accessibility Of The U.S. State Government Websites, Tanya Goette, Sean Lynch
Twenty Years Later: Measuring The Accessibility Of The U.S. State Government Websites, Tanya Goette, Sean Lynch
Communications of the IIMA
Web accessibility remains an important issue as individuals rely on Internet access and web site accessibility for daily functions. It is an unwritten rule that people should access an organization’s website to search for answers before calling to ask a human (or a bot). Over twenty years ago, in 2005, a study (White, Goette, & Young) was conducted to analyze the accessibility of state government web sites. The assumption was made that state governments should be setting an example of following accessibility guidelines. The study found that about a third of the home pages did not meet basic accessibility guidelines. …
Beyond Ai Literacy: Developing And Validating A Reflective Human–Ai Learning Scale In Higher Education, Alison Munsch Phd
Beyond Ai Literacy: Developing And Validating A Reflective Human–Ai Learning Scale In Higher Education, Alison Munsch Phd
Communications of the IIMA
Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) is transforming higher education, yet current AI literacy frameworks primarily assess what students know about AI and how they use it rather than how they think while learning with AI. This paper introduces Reflective Human–AI Learning (RHAL), a complementary construct that captures the quality of students' reflective cognition while collaborating with AI. Drawing upon AI literacy, metacognition, significant learning, critical thinking, and self-regulated learning, the study proposes a multidimensional instrument and outlines a rigorous psychometric validation process. The resulting scale is intended to complement—not replace—existing AI literacy measures by assessing reflective judgment, intentional inquiry, and ethical …

Efficiency Evaluation Of Saudi Arabia’S E-Government Procurement: A Data Envelopment Analysis Of The Etimad Platform, Dhafer Abdullah Alahmari
UB Journal for Humanities
Purpose: This study evaluates the operational efficiency of Saudi Arabia’s electronic government procurement system (Etimad) using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), addressing the critical gap in quantitative performance assessment of e-procurement in the Gulf Cooperation Council region specifically Saudi Arabia
Design/methodology/approach: A mixed-methods design combining input- and output-oriented DEA models under constant and variable returns to scale with documentary analysis. Quantitative analysis used secondary data from Etimad platform reports, Ministry of Finance publications, and audited government financial statements (2019–2024), while qualitative analysis examined the Government Tenders and Procurement Law (1440 AH) and related regulations
Findings: DEA results reveal significant variation in …

The Legal Ruling On The Entry Of Non-Muslim Workers Into The Boundaries Of The Sacred Precinct Of Mecca: A Comparative Jurisprudential Study, Meshal Bin Humud Faleh Alnefaie
UB Journal for Humanities
This study examines the ruling on the entry of non-Muslim workers into the boundaries of the Sacred Precinct of Mecca, as well as the ruling on the entry of non-Muslims into other mosques, in order to clarify the distinctive status of the Sacred Mosque in this regard as compared with all other mosques worldwide. The study adopts an inductive method to collect relevant texts and reports, a comparative method to present the views of jurists and discuss their evidences, and a descriptive-analytical method to examine the practical applications of the ruling. It concludes that the majority of jurists prohibit non-Muslims …
When Does Global Search Pay For Itself? A Measured Exploration Cost And Energy Break-Even Analysis Of A Metaheuristic Search Controller In Solar Energy Systems, Mohamed Ali Muammar Ezgour
When Does Global Search Pay For Itself? A Measured Exploration Cost And Energy Break-Even Analysis Of A Metaheuristic Search Controller In Solar Energy Systems, Mohamed Ali Muammar Ezgour
Communications of the IIMA
Autonomous energy systems increasingly delegate the choice of operating point to embedded search algorithms, trading a fast local optimizer that can settle on a wrong point against a slower global search that guarantees the right one at a measurable cost. This paper reframes maximum power point tracking under partial shading as that decision and measures its economics on a fixed photovoltaic plant in MATLAB/Simulink. A Hippopotamus Optimization global search handed over to incremental conductance is compared with incremental conductance alone across seventeen initial duty cycles and thirty random seeds. The hybrid reached the global peak in all thirty seeds, whereas …
Between Blockchain And Black Markets: South Africa's Legal Readiness For Crypto-Driven Cyberfraud, Sagwadi Mabunda, Yassin Chande
Between Blockchain And Black Markets: South Africa's Legal Readiness For Crypto-Driven Cyberfraud, Sagwadi Mabunda, Yassin Chande
Communications of the IIMA
This paper examines whether the proliferation of cryptocurrency-facilitated fraud warrants a reclassification of the terrestrial crime of fraud into the distinct statutory offence of cyberfraud under South African law. Engaging with established fraud typologies — exit scams, Initial Coin Offering (ICO) scams, Ponzi schemes, pump-and-dump schemes, and market manipulation — the article tests their definitional fit against both the common law of fraud and section 8 of the Cybercrimes Act 19 of 2020. Through a hypothetical composite scenario combining multiple fraud typologies, the article demonstrates that whilst cryptocurrency significantly amplifies the reach and complexity of fraudulent schemes, it functions primarily …

Hydrothermal Alteration Mapping Of The Northern Coongan Greenstone Belt Using Remote Sensing Imagery, Meaza Bogale, Elias Woldeyohanis
Hydrothermal Alteration Mapping Of The Northern Coongan Greenstone Belt Using Remote Sensing Imagery, Meaza Bogale, Elias Woldeyohanis
Journal of Sustainable Mining
Archean greenstone belts are well known for their ore deposits, diverse lithostratigraphy, and well-preserved evidence from the early Earth. The Northern Coongan Greenstone Belt is an Archean greenstone belt that is part of the Eastern Pilbara Craton of Western Australia. The rock units of this area have the potential to be sources of valuable mineral deposits, which could be economically beneficial for extraction. Studies have been conducted in the northern Coongan greenstone belt, mostly using geological field methods and geophysical interpretations, excluding remote sensing methods for mapping mineral indices. Therefore, this study aims at providing surface mineral distribution maps and …
Sedimentary Dynamics In Tubular Sandstone Caves, Porto União, Southern Brazil, Leandro Bianchini, Julio Cesar Paisani
Sedimentary Dynamics In Tubular Sandstone Caves, Porto União, Southern Brazil, Leandro Bianchini, Julio Cesar Paisani
International Journal of Speleology
Clastic sedimentation in sandstone caves remains poorly understood, particularly in systems with tubular morphology. This study investigates sedimentation, reworking, and sediment removal dynamics in the Legru Cave system, southern Brazil, based on the integrated analysis of sedimentary facies, microstructures, and microfeatures, combined with optically stimulated luminescence dating. The results indicate that conduit infilling is dominated by high-density flows, including cohesive debris flows, partially diluted multiphase flows, and flows with intermediate rheological behavior between mud flow and hyperconcentrated flow, in addition to shallow flow alternations. Sediment supply is predominantly allochthonous, related to hillslope-derived material delivered by overland flow and mud flows, …
From Source And Summit To Parish Practice: A Qualitative Analysis Of Eucharist And Social Outreach, Erik Sorensen S.J.
From Source And Summit To Parish Practice: A Qualitative Analysis Of Eucharist And Social Outreach, Erik Sorensen S.J.
Journal of Global Catholicism
A small-scale qualitative study in a Catholic parish situated in Ottawa, Canada, offers insights into the complex relationship between that community's worship and its commitment to social justice. This article brings the lived theology of this community into dialogue with the academic and magisterial perspectives on the Eucharist as the source and summit of Christian life. The dialogue is framed by the Theological Action Research Network's four voices of theology: operant, espoused, formal, and normative. This framework helps to center the marginalized theology of the faithful in the pews. In this case, the parish offered a dynamic theology of welcome …
“Ite Missa Est”: How Can The Altar Alter Attitudes And Actions?, Ebenezer Akesseh
“Ite Missa Est”: How Can The Altar Alter Attitudes And Actions?, Ebenezer Akesseh
Journal of Global Catholicism
This paper brings into focus the relationship between personal agency and so-
cial structure, demonstrating that what we celebrate on the altar forms within
us the proper dispositions that can help prevent the occurrence of corruption.
The first part examines corruption from a socio-cultural perspective and ex-
plains the incidence and effects of corruption. The second part discusses the
relationship between worship and the formation of actions and attitudes. It
highlights the need to embody the social implications of our celebrations. Using
responses from interviewees, the third part illustrates that the celebration of the
Eucharist shapes the commitments and conduct …
The Lived Liturgical Experience Of Non-Catholic Participants In The Roman Catholic Mass: Tactical Ecumenism In Overlapping Ritual Systems, Sarah Kathleen Johnson
The Lived Liturgical Experience Of Non-Catholic Participants In The Roman Catholic Mass: Tactical Ecumenism In Overlapping Ritual Systems, Sarah Kathleen Johnson
Journal of Global Catholicism
In religiously diverse social contexts, liturgical practices anchored in one reli-
gious tradition often gather diverse communities. In such contexts, it is wise to
assume that people who are not Catholic may be present at any Roman Cath-
olic Mass. This article explores the lived liturgical experience of non-Catholic
Christians who participate routinely in the Roman Catholic Mass through a
mixed-methods study of a religiously diverse treble vocal ensemble that sings
weekly at Mass on a Catholic university campus. It describes how Catholic and
non-Catholic Christian singers interpret practices surrounding the eucharistic
meal in contrasting ways: non-Catholic Christians experience the …
La Santa Muerte And The Characteristic Damage Of Canonization, Ellen Webber
La Santa Muerte And The Characteristic Damage Of Canonization, Ellen Webber
Journal of Global Catholicism
Devotion to La Santa Muerte, a Mexican folk saint who personifies Death, has
been condemned by the Catholic Church for its affiliation with Mexican drug
cartels. This article challenges mainstream interpretations of La Santa Muerte
devotion using the theological framework of characteristic damage, as defined
by Lauren Winner and Paul J. Griffiths. This framework understands liturgy
as celebrated by sinners in a damaged world, and therefore necessarily damaged
itself. As much as liturgy and Christian practice form us for good, they also per-
petuate damage. I argue that the sins present in La Santa Muerte veneration are
an expression of …
Negotiating Plurality: Korean Catholic Funerals As Lived Religion, Jieun Han
Negotiating Plurality: Korean Catholic Funerals As Lived Religion, Jieun Han
Journal of Global Catholicism
This article examines Korean Catholic funeral rites through the lenses of ritual
guidebooks and lived religion, arguing that Catholic funerary practice in Korea
has emerged through sustained engagement with Confucian and Buddhist tradi-
tions as well as modern nationalism. Focusing on Catholic manuals such as the
Sangjang yesik [Rites for Mourning and Funerals] and related texts, it traces how
officially sanctioned liturgical forms coexist with, accommodate, and reinterpret
indigenous ritual logics surrounding mourning, burial, ancestor veneration, and
care for the dead. Rather than viewing Korean Catholic funerals as a simple
localization of Roman rites, the article conceptualizes them as a …
