Engineering Small-Sized Cations With Strong Solvation For High-Voltage Supercapacitors, Tong Huo, Pan Liu, Hao Chen, Peng Zhang, Zhen-Lei Chen, Guo-Fu Sun, Zhi-Qiang Shi, Jing Wang
Journal of Electrochemistry
Supercapacitors (SCs) have attracted much attention in the field of energy storage due to their high power density and long cycle life. However, their relatively low energy density limits their application in a wider range of fields. Methods to increase energy density include enhancing specific capacitance and extending operating voltage window. Herein, we report a novel electrolyte salt, tetramethylammonium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide (TMA-FSI), the resulting electrolyte formed with propylene carbonate (PC), designated as TMF, exhibited a wide electrochemical stability window (ESW) of 5.09 V. On the one hand, we found that the small size of TMA+ enables it to enter the …

Oral Health Equivalent To Body Health, Ahmed Jameel Obayes, Abeer Mohammed Ali Al-Garawyi
Muthanna Medical Journal
Oral health comprises the palate, mouth and throat lining, tongue, lips, salivary glands, chewing muscles, nerves, and upper and lower jaw bones. Chronic mouth infections were related to ``diabetes, heart and lung disease, and stroke'' in a recent research. Our oral health influences our overall health. Understanding that tooth loss is usually caused by illness or injury rather than age is a crucial first step in preventing ``dental caries and periodontal disease''. This overview of evidence connects poor oral health to systemic disorders. A number of studies have shown a relationship between dental and general health, indicating ``poor oral health'' …

Investigation Of The Redox Behavior Of Helichrysum Herb In Blood Via Cyclic Voltammetry, Asad Hameed Alnajar, Zahraa Neamah Abbas
Muthanna Medical Journal
The redox properties of Helichrysum were studied in human blood using cyclic voltammetry (CV). The study aimed to determine the redox capacity of the phytochemicals in this herb, particularly phenolic compounds and flavonoids, and their effect on the redox balance in the blood. Voltographic plots showed distinct anodic and cathodic peaks at 750 and -600 mV, respectively, consistent with the redox activity of the active metabolites. The results indicated that Helichrysum exhibits a reversible redox process with significant antioxidant capacity, suggesting its role as an electron donor in biological systems. These findings contribute to understanding the electrochemical properties of medicinal …
Measuring Cultural Distance With Cultural Classification Models: A Tutorial In R, Kongmeng Liew, Igor De Almeida
Measuring Cultural Distance With Cultural Classification Models: A Tutorial In R, Kongmeng Liew, Igor De Almeida
Online Readings in Psychology and Culture
Cross-cultural psychological research is essential to address the WEIRD (Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich, and Democratic) bias in psychology. Traditional cross-cultural research often relies on Western-centric theories which may not adequately capture cultural differences beyond East-West comparisons. This tutorial introduces Cultural Classification Models (CCMs), interpretable machine learning models designed to explore cultural differences between countries by distinguishing between participants from different cultures on a cross-cultural dataset. CCMs offer a data-driven approach to quantify cultural distances and identify key variables that differentiate cultures. This tutorial provides a step-by-step guide in R to build CCMs using Random Forests, and derive indices of cultural …

Journal of Hate Studies
Sociologist Stephanie M. Ortiz reviews Rob Eschmann’s When the Hood Comes Off: Racism and Resistance in the Digital Age, which examines how the internet reorganizes the conditions under which racism is expressed, with a focus on higher education. This reorganization allows hate to flourish online even as racism is disavowed in public. Online and offline spaces are not disconnected, though, and digital revelations—revealed when “the hood comes off”—shape offline relationships, institutional trust, campus climate, and students’ sense of safety.
Radical Right Ideologues In The Age Of Trump: Heralds Of Nihilism, By Ronald Beiner. Routledge, 2026. 160 Pages. $57.99. Isbn 978-1041126812, Joan Braune
Journal of Hate Studies
Philosopher Joan Braune reviews Ronald Beiner’s Radical Right Ideologues in the Age of Trump: Heralds of Nihilism, which examines how fascist ideologues such as Steve Bannon, Aleksandr Dugin, Jason Jorjani, and Costin Alamariu (known online as “Bronze Age Pervert”), invoke philosophers, including Plato, Nietzsche, and Heidegger, in their arguments. It also considers why traditional philosophy departments have hesitated to acknowledge the use of philosophers in right-wing movements and how Beiner manages the risk of validating fascism as intellectual by studying the topic.
The Great Right North: Inside Far-Right Activism In Canada, By Stéphane Leman-Langlois, Aurélie Campana, And Samuel Tanner. Mcgill-Queen’S University Press, 2024. 288 Pages. $29.95. Isbn 978-0228022848, Carmen Celestini
Journal of Hate Studies
Carmen Celestini, a scholar of religion, reviews The Great Right North: Inside Far-Right Activism in Canada, co-authored by Stéphane Leman-Langlois, Aurélie Campana, and Samuel Tanner. The Great Right North traces the history of the far right in Canada, mapping hate groups by their relationships to political and social institutions and violence as well as their construction of otherness, thereby revealing how such groups are not insular but are in fact responsive to social phenomena. After defining groups as ultra right, racial right, xenophobic right, anti-state militias, freedom conspiracists, or nostalgic racists, The Great Right North identifies commonalities and differences …

Journal of Hate Studies
Political scientist Tom Schaller reviews Michael Edison Hayden’s Strange People on the Hill: How Extremism Tore Apart a Small American Town. Part memoir and part ethnography, Strange People on the Hill details Hayden’s time as an investigative journalist in Berkley Springs, West Virginia, where the Southern Poverty Law Center tasked him with learning about the purchase of an area castle by Peter Brimelow, the founder of the white nationalist group VDARE, named after Virginia Dare, the first white child born in the Americas, and his wife. Strange People on the Hill chronicles the challenges of working as a journalist …
On Christian Nationalism: Critical And Theological Perspectives, Edited By David M. Gides And Joan Braune. Routledge, 2026. Routledge Studies In Fascism And The Far Right. 406 Pages. $46.39 Isbn 978-1032805665, Kim Shively
Journal of Hate Studies
Anthropologist Kim Shively reviews On Christian Nationalism: Critical and Theological Perspectives, edited by David M. Gides, a theologian, and Joan Braune, a philosopher. Nineteen authors contribute essays on four topics: defining Christian nationalism, trends in the United States, international and comparative analyses, and theological responses to Christian nationalism. Christian nationalism is a platform for grievance, the contributors argue, and the theme of loss runs throughout the book: nostalgia for an imagined social history and loss or perceived loss of White privilege, with its attendant racism, antisemitism, Islamophobia, sexism, and homophobia.
Klandamentalism: Bob Jones At The Intersection Of Revivalism, Politics, And White Supremacy, By Camille Kaminski Lewis. Clemson University Press, 2025. Rhetorics Of Conflict. 352 Pages. $128.00. Isbn 978-1638041566, Anderson Rouse
Journal of Hate Studies
A historian by training, Anderson Rouse reviews Camille Kaminski Lewis’s Klandamentalism: Bob Jones at the Intersection of Revivalism, Politics, and White Supremacy, a study of twentieth century religion and race that examines the fusion of Protestant fundamentalism and Ku Klux Klan activity and ideology. Klandementalism focuses on the work of Bob Jones through archives beyond that of the university that bears his name, illustrating how Bob Jones University became an example of the institutionalization of racialized Protestant politics.

Journal of Hate Studies
Jefferson Calico, a scholar of religion, reviews Matthew D. Taylor’s The Violent Take It by Force: The Christian Movement That Is Threatening Our Democracy, an analysis of how the apostolic and prophetic movement within American Protestantism is reshaping religious politics. Charismatic, both theologically and personally, religious entrepreneurs like Paula White, C. Peter Wagner, Cindy Jacobs, Sean Feucht, and Dutch Sheets lead market-driven faith-based efforts to undermine democracy. With their emphasis on spectacular displays of spiritual gifts, they often embarrass other Christian nationalists, while the leadership of women and people of color in the movement scandalizes them—yet they are, in …

Journal of Hate Studies
Historian Beth A. Griech-Polelle reviews Mark Mazower’s On Antisemitism: A Word in History which explores how the term came emerged in Germany in the last 1800s and how its definition has changed over time and across cultures, including in the US, the USSR, and the Arab world. Mazower considers the roles of geography, Christan and antisemitic Zionism, intellectual and political antisemitism, Nazism, anti-Zionism, imperialism, conspiracy theories, and anti-Israel sentiment in shaping how people have historically understood and do today understand the concept—and how such differences in understanding frustrated efforts to end antisemitism.

Journal of Hate Studies
Caron E. Gentry, scholar of gender and international relations, reviews Cynthia Miller-Idriss’s Man Up: The New Misogyny and the Rise of Violent Extremism, which examines the relationship between misogyny, from schoolyard bullying to rape; far-right extremism, including extremist violence; and popular culture. Man Up demonstrates that misogynist thinking underpins wider American culture and that the accompanying entitlement and alienation lead to the violence aligned with far-right extremism in the United States.

Journal of Hate Studies
Legal scholar Sachin S. Pandya reviews Tshepo Bogosi Mosaka’s Proof, Evidence and Hate Crime: A Study in Criminal Jurisprudence. While traditional notions of proof separate fact from value and treat proof as apart from procedural rules and practices and from substantive law, Proof, Evidence, and Hate Crime proposes an applied and context-specific model of proof. Mosaka uses non-contact hate crimes motivated by race, religion, and ethnic bias to explore his ideas.

Journal of Hate Studies
A scholar of communication, Wanda Little Fenimore reviews Jennifer Patrice Sims’ The Fallacies of Racism: Understanding How Common Perceptions Uphold White Supremacy, which examines twelve fallacies of racist thinking, divided into micro-, meso-, and macrolevel fallacies. Though these fallacies are also used to advance other biases, such classism, sexism, and ableism, Sims’ focus on race shows how fallacious thinking is not merely an individual error but part of an epistemology that upholds White supremacy.
Children No More: Were And Are Gone. Produced By Sheila Nevins, Yael Melamede And Hilla Medalia; Directed By Hilla Medalia. English. 2026; Color; 36 Minutes. Full Story Films, Medalia Productions, And Salty Features, Muzna Rahman
Journal of Hate Studies
Postcolonial studies scholar Muzna Rahman reviews Children No More: Were and Are Gone, Hilla Medalia’s Academy Award-nominated short documentary. The film documents pro-peace Israeli activists who gather regularly in Tel Avivi to hold a silent vigil for Palestinian children killed by Israel forces. Against the backdrop of everyday urban life, the protestors simply hold photos of the children, commemorating their lives rather than their brutal deaths. The images of Palestinian children held by Israeli activities highlights the similarities between the groups, while the rage of passersby reveals the danger that Israelis who advocate for peace face in their work.
Antisemitism: What Everyone Needs To Know, By David Harris. Oxford University Press, 2025. 280 Pages. $18.99. Isbn 978-0197800676, Dov Waxman
Journal of Hate Studies
Political scientist Dov Waxman reviews Antisemitism: What Everyone Needs to Know, authored by David Harris, former chair of the American Jewish Committee. Part of Oxford University Press’s What Everyone Needs to Know series aimed at general readers, the book provides a basic history of antisemitism through the present, including explaining its relationship to the Holocaust, but it devotes much more attention to what the author alleges is antisemitism on the left, particularly concerning Israel, than to antisemitism on the Far Right, and it fails to engage with or reflect contemporary scholarship on antisemitism.

Reviewed by Mary Pat Treuthart, Carla the Rescuer is a feature-length documentary about the life and work of Carla Peperzak, a Dutch girl whose father managed to get her Jewish identity marker removed from her identification papers after Germany invaded the Netherlands in 1940. Peperzak used her relative freedom to join the Dutch Resistance, forging documents and assisting Jews in finding hiding places. Though Carla the Rescuer focuses on Peperzak’s youthful bravery, her family only learned of it when her granddaughter asked her to speak about her wartime experiences to the child’s middle school class. Peperzak thus became a later-in-life …
