Improving Handwashing Behavior Of School-Age Children Through A Game-Based Educational Program, Ikbal Fradianto, Arief Andriyanto, Nur Akbar, Nita Arisanti Yulanda, Bahtiar Bahtiar

ASEAN Journal of Community Engagement

Handwashing plays an essential role in overcoming health problems. Washing hands is a straightforward exercise but will not be done if not adequately informed and drilled on it. School-age children are a vulnerable group relative to health problems, but at the same time, is an excellent group to be given appropriate education. Educating school- age children on the importance of washing their hands is critical to improving health behavior. This community-based research aims to increase school-age children’s handwashing knowledge, attitudes, and practices using a game-based educational program. As a result, there are improvements in the handwashing behavior of around a …

Problem-Based Learning And Case-Based Learning: Which Is More Effective For Fostering Mathematical Connection?, Erlinda Rahma Dewi, Arifta Nurjanah

Jurnal Riset Pendidikan Matematika

Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and Case-Based Learning (CBL) are two typical learning approaches that involve problem-solving activities, likely to encourage students' mathematical connection abilities. This study aimed to describe the differences in mathematical connection ability between students studying with the PBL and those who used the CBL approach. A quasi-experiment with a pretest-post-test non-equivalent group design was conducted for the purpose. The data collection method was non-routine problems about mathematical connections. The data was analyzed using inferential statistics. Paired sample t-tests adopted were to examine the difference between pretest and post-test data in each experimental class, and independent sample t-tests were …

Introduction. Study reported that malondialdehyde (MDA) levels as an in vivo marker of oxidative stress were increased in patients undergoing hemodialysis. Antioxidants allicin compounds contained in garlic (Allium sativum) are known to have antioxidant activity by inducing antioxidant enzymes such as superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and inhibiting prooxidant enzymes (nitric oxide synthase, xanthine, NADPH oxidase, and cyclooxygenase). This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of Allium sativum to reduce level of MDA serum and improve quality of life in patients with chronic hemodialysis. Methods. This study was a crossover randomized double-blind placebo-controlled trial. The subjects were 40 chronic kidney …

Journal of Dentistry Indonesia

Nevoid Basal Cell Carcinoma Syndrome, also called as Gorlin Gotz syndrome is an autosomal dominant disorder characterized by the presence of multiple odontogenic keratocysts (OKCs) of the jaw, basal cell carcinomas and skeletal anomalies. Presence of multiple OKCs is the first clinical manifestation in majority of the cases. Early diagnosis and treatment are of utmost importance in reducing the severity of this syndrome. We hereby report a rare case of Gorlin Goltz syndrome in a 28 years old female patient who presented with multiple cystic lesions in the jaws. Present case also highlights the clinical, radiographic and histopathologic features of …

Endodontic Management Of An Unusual Mandibular First Molar With Six Canals: A Case Report And Systematic Review, Sarah Ahmad, Syed Mukhtar -Un- Nisar Andrabi, Ashok Kumar, Surendra Kumar Mishra, Rajendra Kumar Tewari Dec 2022

Endodontic Management Of An Unusual Mandibular First Molar With Six Canals: A Case Report And Systematic Review, Sarah Ahmad, Syed Mukhtar -Un- Nisar Andrabi, Ashok Kumar, Surendra Kumar Mishra, Rajendra Kumar Tewari

Journal of Dentistry Indonesia

The permanent mandibular first molar is frequently involved in conventional root canal treatment due to its function and position in the oral cavity. Additional root canals mandate accurate diagnosis and conservative management to prevent any procedural errors. The first independent middle mesial canal incidence was verified in mandibular molars in 1974, with a global incidence of 10.8–27.0%. Reporting of the middle distal canal in the endodontic literature is scarce, with an incidence of 0.2–3%. The present case report describes the endodontic management of an unusual permanent mandibular first molar with three canals in the mesial and distal roots, diagnosed with …

Taiwanese Journal of Orthodontics

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a common sleep disorder syndrome, especially in the middle-aged, obese men population. Patients suffer from an interrupted sleep at night, which could be life-threatening. Treatment alternatives include continuous positive airway pressure, mandible advanced device, nasal surgery and maxillo-mandibular advancement surgery. This article presented a patient who came with chief complaints of lower jaw retrusion, poor sleep quality, unsatisfactory occlusion and old prosthesis. The patient had declined the surgical-orthodontics in 12 years ago, and went for another camouflage orthodontic treatment with extraction of teeth and multiple prosthesis. He presented with skeletal Class II with retrognathic mandible …

Cephalometric Analysis: History And Clinical Application, Ib Leth Nielsen

Taiwanese Journal of Orthodontics

When roentgen cephalometry was first introduced to the orthodontic profession in 1931 by Broadbent in the USA and Hofrath in Germany it was a major milestone in terms of new diagnostic tools available to orthodontists. Until that time only clinical observation and study casts of the patients had been available to the clinician but now a more in depth understanding of the facial makeup became possible. This meant that each patient’s malocclusion could now be related to their facial skeletal and dental morphology. The dentoalveolar components could now be studied in detail and better treatment plans could be developed that …

Document Dimensions Of Imuseum’S Instagram Posts, Ciwuk Musiana Yudhawasthi, Lydia Christiani, Widya Damayanti

Proceedings from the Document Academy

Social media is source of information during a pandemic. Using virtual ethnography methods and cyber media analysis, this article tries to trace digital cultural artifacts on IMERI iMuseum’s Instagram posts. Digital cultural artifacts that emerged were then analyzed using Buckland's concept of physical, mental and social dimensions of document. The results of the analysis show that cultural artifacts in iMuseum’s IG posts have document dimensions, seen from the physical, mental and social aspects and even a combination of dimensions. In the context of infodemic, through its social media, iMuseum seeks to carry out its role in disseminating information on health, …

A Fused Data Based Real-Time Collision Warning System For Ferries In The Yangtze River, Xiaojia Liu, Ke Zhang, Han Xue, Yingtang Li Dec 2022

A Fused Data Based Real-Time Collision Warning System For Ferries In The Yangtze River, Xiaojia Liu, Ke Zhang, Han Xue, Yingtang Li

Journal of Marine Science and Technology

The risks for ferries in the Yangtze River are relatively high, as they frequently cross the main traffic flows, leading to more intersections with other upwards and downwards ships. Although some studies have developed many models to assess collision risks in the Yangtze River, collision warning studies on ferries are scant. Meanwhile, most of the current collision studies evaluate risk based on AIS data, which are incapable of providing real-time ship information as they are discrete-time series data. In this work, fused data combining radar and AIS data are applied in a real-time ship collision warning model to assess the …

A Case Study Of A Low-Income African American Career Academy’S Approach To Student Services, Victor Hernandez-Gantes, Edward C. Fletcher Jr.

Journal of Research in Technical Careers

The provision of support services has been found critical for meeting the needs of students and their families, but related research in predominantly low-income, African American/Black communities, is limited. Thus, through a case study we explored how a school, located in a low-income area with a predominantly African American/Black population, adopted and enacted support services. The setting was an urban high school with an enrollment of 700 students who are predominantly African American (98%) and 100% low-income. We conducted interviews with district, school, and community stakeholders; and we followed a thematic approach for the analysis. A major finding was that …
