The members of the Separatist congregation in Ommen again petition the king for official recognition. The nearly fifty members of the congregation who signed this petition agreed to the stipulations of the king's declaration of 9 January, including "That we assume the costs of our religion as well as the needs of our poor, without burdening the state." The document is significant for several reasons including the list of names of the persons who signed the petition including Rev. Albertus C. Van Raalte, and his wife, Christina J. Van Raalte.

This is a modern account of the trial of Anne Hutchinson. Hutchinson was a midwife and healer, as well as a spiritual advisor in the Boston colony. She became embroiled in the Antinomian controversy, a religious schism that threatened to tear the colony apart. Hutchinson was arrested and charged with "transducing the ministers" and heresy. She was convicted and her family was banished from the colony in 1638. She and six members of her family were killed during Kieft's War several years later.
