State-Level Reimbursement Parity And Adoption Of Telehealth Services By Health Services Organizations, Sabrie Jalisa Satterwhite
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
This study was conducted to investigate payment parity as a significant barrier in telehealth adoption by health services organizations (HSOs) in the United States. Ambulatory services have been a preference for Medicaid and Medicare and private payers. However, telemedicine is a platform that presents massive potential in expanding access and quality of care, while boosting healthcare management by significant margins. This study was conducted to explore how reimbursement parity impacts HSO adoption of telehealth services. The micro-meso-macro analytical framework for understanding patient-reported outcomes was used as the theoretical foundation for the project. The research question sought to establish if there …

Assessing If Culture Contributes To African American Absence In The Accounting, Angelette Jones Mercier
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
African-Americans currently represent less than 3% of all US accountants. Grounded in Social Cognitive Career Theory the purpose of this study is to explore if African American culture leads to the accounting career being a less attractive business career option. In analyzing various research studies, one researcher suggested employing various tactics, including mentorship and recruitment in lower income areas to counteract this unevenness. Debates on whether the lack of exposure to accounting as a career option or the overall reputation of accounting in light of highly publicized scandals may have exacerbated the problem. The research question addressed if cultural mores …

The Relationship Between Magnet And Non-Magnet Designated Sites And Severe Maternal Morbidity For New Jersey Hospitals, Adrienne L. Elberfeld
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
For the past 25 years U.S. health care providers have reported higher than expected severe maternal morbidity (SMM). Magnet status is a designation through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Studies indicate that hospitals with Magnet recognition provide better patient care resulting in better quality outcomes. The recent COVID-19 pandemic (COVID-19) created a global-wide disruption, presenting new systemic challenges for U.S. health care providers in providing accessible, timely patient health services. The purpose of this study was to determine if there is a statistically significant difference between Magnet and non-Magnet hospitals in New Jersey (NJ) for SMM rates during COVID-19 …

The Intersection Of Disability, Gender, And Sexual Violence Perceptions In Juror Decision-Making, Melissa West
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Sexual violence is a societal epidemic and disproportionally affects disabled women. Disabled women belong to an intersectional identity that also experiences more negative attitudes, stigma, stereotypes, and discrimination than nondisabled individuals. In sexual assault cases, juror biases may translate into more detrimental attitudes toward disabled victims. The purpose of this study was to examine how these attitudes may impact outcomes in sexual assault trials when comparing disabled and nondisabled female victims. This study was conducted through the lens of just-world theory and feminist disability theory using a quantitative, experimental jury simulation design. The 304 participants in an online survey designed …

School Counselor's Experiences In Providing Services To High School Students Enrolled In Accelerated Academic Programs, Pamela Denise Gardner
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Students enrolled in accelerated academic programs are not immune to mental health concerns that other students may face. Despite the increasing evidence that perfectionism is correlated with psychological distress among adolescents, there is a gap in the literature on how interventions developed for use in adolescent populations may affect this relationship. Knowledge of the influence, if any, of interventions may help school counselors to better understand these students’ experiences and counseling requirements. The purpose of this qualitative, phenomenological study was to learn more about counselors’ experiences with students in accelerated academic programs. The participants comprised eight counselors recruited from a …
