Venipuncture is an integral process in clinical care, and it has an indispensable role in diagnostics and determining therapeutic interventions. The process of phlebotomy has faced several challenges that have compromised patients’ safety. The risk of incorrect venipuncture, or preanalytical errors, leading to severe patient complications of hematoma and thrombosis calls for training using current, evidence-based practices. The goal of this project was to develop a clinical practice guideline (CPG) to determine the efficacy of venipuncture simulation training using an arm task trainer to enhance the phlebotomy skills of nurses. Based on the outcome, present, state, test model and Nightingale’s …

Exoneree Self-Esteem And Self-Compassion During Reintegration, Jessica Eleanor Arneson
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Exonerees (i.e., wrongfully convicted individuals) experience difficulties during the reintegration process when gaining employment, housing, healthcare, and financial compensation. External factors are known to negatively impact reintegration. One internal negative consequence of wrongful convictions and the reintegration process for exonerees is identity changes. Less known is the impact of internal factors on reintegration. Self-esteem and self-compassion are two known constructs that comprise personal identity. The relationships between these two constructs with reintegration difficulties of DNA-exonerees were researched. The social identity approach is useful in this quantitative, nonexperimental exploration of the relationship between self-esteem and reintegration difficulties. The social identity approach …

Effect Of Education And Policy On Informal Caregivers’ Experience Of Grief With End-Of-Life Care, Brandan Margaret Rose
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
While numerous studies have explored various aspects of end-of-life care, a significant gap persists in the literature regarding the emotional burden experienced by informal caregivers as they grapple with challenging decisions. Additionally, with current federal and state guidelines, administrators do not have clear policies to drive equity for patients and their informal caregivers. This qualitative study examined informal caregivers’ perceptions of how end-of-life care policies impacted the dying process and how education influenced their grief and guilt. Using a conceptual framework of Simon’s concept of bounded rationality and evidence-based policymaking, the study addressed constraints on caregivers’ decision-making due to limited …
