In this quality improvement project, the DNP scholar explored the impact of a nurse-led staff education approach on improving respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccine uptake. RSV disease results in negative health outcomes and even death among vulnerable individuals. Despite the availability of U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved vaccines, uptake remains low due to limited provider knowledge and inconsistent vaccine recommendations. Vacancy rates are a current problem in a freestanding outpatient dialysis clinic in rural communities. From an administrative perspective, vacancy rates increase costs associated with recruitment, onboarding, training, overtime and compromise the quality and safety of patient care. The purpose of this integrative review was to identify evidence-based strategies to decrease vacancy rates in rural Georgia dialysis clinics. The problem that was addressed through this study is that elementary teachers encounter challenges to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities (SWDs) in Georgia’s general education classrooms, despite policy mandates requiring inclusive education. Grounded in Ajzen’s theory of planned behavior, the purpose of this basic qualitative study was to explore elementary teachers’ perceptions of the challenges they face and the resources and supports recommended to teach SWDs in general education classrooms. This staff education quality improvement project at Clinic P targeted the clinical problem of depression under-diagnosis, evidenced by less than 60% of patients completing the patient health questionnaire (PHQ-9) before the initiative. Depression under-diagnosis, significantly caused by provider PHQ-9 screening competency deficits that need to be addressed through staff education, is associated with adverse patient health outcomes, in turn generating negative implications for providers and wider society. This staff education project evaluated the effects of a structured verbal de-escalation training program on self-efficacy among staff in a federal correctional mental health unit. Staff at the site often reported uncertainty managing escalating behaviors, leading to frequent use of restrictive interventions like restraints and seclusion—practices that can compromise safety, quality of care, and raise ethical concerns. To address this gap, an evidence-based curriculum was implemented for 41 multidisciplinary staff, including nurses, certified nursing assistants, and correctional officers. A comprehensive review of evidence from CINAHL Complete, PubMed/MEDLINE, and Cochrane supports the use of culturally tailored, evidence-based dietary education to improve diabetes knowledge, self-management behaviors, and health outcomes. African Americans experience disproportionately high rates of end-stage renal disease (ESRD) yet continue to experience disparities in access to kidney transplantation, the preferred treatment for ESRD. The quality improvement project focused on the inconsistent documentation and communication of the transfer of veterans in and out of a Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Lack of transparency in handoff knowledge and ineffective documents posed a risk of delayed care and patient injuries. Across the globe, divorce is a challenging situation that affects family relationships and disrupts social networks. This organization change process evaluation addressed continued reliance on outdated no-suicide and no-harm contracts in an outpatient psychiatric setting, despite evidence that such contracts do not reduce suicide risk and may create a false sense of security. Adult outpatients with mood or psychotic disorders who express safety concerns represent a population for whom structured, collaborative safety planning is the accepted standard of care. African American women experience a disproportionate burden of hypertension and hypertension-related complications, making timely follow-up and treatment intensification essential quality and equity priorities. Falls among residents in long-term care facilities are a concern for families and facility management. Falls inflict pain, discomfort, and head trauma, causing fractures. In nursing practice, falls are nursing-sensitive indicators that reflect the quality of nursing care and patient safety. There is a need to bridge the gap and increase staff knowledge on how to prevent falls in the facility. Depression is a leading cause of disability worldwide and is associated with significant impairment, delayed treatment, and increased suicide risk when not appropriately identified and managed. In an outpatient behavioral health setting, review of de-identified electronic health record (EHR) data identified inconsistent completion of the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) following positive Patient Health Questionnaire-2 (PHQ-2) screenings, resulting in incomplete depression assessment and missed opportunities for timely intervention. This Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) project evaluated whether implementation of a standardized PHQ-2 to PHQ-9 workflow improved PHQ-9 completion rates among adult outpatients with positive PHQ-2 screenings.
