An Examination Of Counselors' And Therapists' Attitudes Toward Marriage, Alicia Moore
An Examination Of Counselors' And Therapists' Attitudes Toward Marriage, Alicia Moore
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Previous studies have shown many aspects of the serious social concerns of attitudes regarding marriage and how an attitude toward marriage may directly be linked to declining birth rates, delayed marriages, and increasing divorce rates. However, previous studies have not shown emerging counselors’ and therapists’ attitudes toward marriage in the Western culture. Based on the social learning theory, the purpose of this study investigates the relationship between emerging counselors’ and therapists’ attitudes toward marriage and their (a) gender, (b) parental conflict, and (c) family structure. A quantitative research design was employed with a non-probability convenience sample of 81 emerging counselors …
Nonprofit Organizations’ Program Evaluation Of Education Toward Prevention Of Teens Using Electronic Cigarettes And Vaping, Paulette Scott
Nonprofit Organizations’ Program Evaluation Of Education Toward Prevention Of Teens Using Electronic Cigarettes And Vaping, Paulette Scott
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
AbstractThe pervasiveness of electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) and vaping among teenagers has led to a need for effective interventions to address this problem. One type of intervention that nonprofit organizations (NPOs) such as the American Lung Association (ALA) have adopted is the use of educational programs. For instance, ALA introduced an educational program referred to as Nicotine Dependence: Education, Prevention, Tobacco, and Health (INDEPTH), which acts as an alternative to suspension and citation of teens engaged in e-cigarette smoking or vaping. Despite such interventions, the use of e-cigarettes persists, suggesting the need to determine the perceived effectiveness of such programs. This …
Intimate Partner Violence: Effects Of Emotional Abuse In Women, Judith Marie Watiti
Intimate Partner Violence: Effects Of Emotional Abuse In Women, Judith Marie Watiti
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
AbstractEstimates by the U.S. Bureau of Statistics point to over 30% of women being victims of intimate partner violence (IPV) yearly. Severity and frequency of violence in childhood have been shown in several studies to predict adult interpersonal violence. Research has shown that emotional abuse predicts other forms of abuse, thus identifying it as a potential causal link to IPV. The purpose of this quantitative study was to examine whether emotional abuse mediates the relationship between history of childhood abuse and IPV. Social learning theory served as the theoretical framework for the study, in which 182 adult female participants from …

Thirteen nurse educators from baccalaureate nursing programs were interviewed using open-ended questions. Interviews were transcribed and manually coded. …
The Relationship Between Human Capital, Productivity, And Profitability, Neema Carolina Eleyae
The Relationship Between Human Capital, Productivity, And Profitability, Neema Carolina Eleyae
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
In the industrial structure of Nigeria, lack of profitability, scarcity of human capital, and low productivity have resulted in the failure of many business organizations. Business leaders must maintain profitability to continue funding their business organizations in the future. Grounded in human capital theory, the purpose of this quantitative correlational study was to examine the relationship between human capital, productivity, and profitability among organizations listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange. Archival data records (N = 836) between 2005 and 2019 were examined. The overall multiple linear regression model was able to significantly predict profitability: F (2, 833) = 79.35, p < .01, R2 = .158. Human capital was statistically significant (t = 12.548, p < .01, β = .400); productivity was not significant. A key recommendation for organizational leaders and policymakers in Nigeria is to increase higher education and general knowledge investments to improve the quality of human capital in the country, particularly in the services, construction, and information technology industries. Implications for positive social change include the potential for increased profitability and sustainability of organizations listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange, which will be better equipped to compete globally through a skilled, well-educated workforce.
