The problem that was addressed through this study is that online undergraduate adult students, 25 years of age or older, do not persist to graduation at Caring University, a pseudonym for an online university. The purpose of this qualitative study was to investigate the perceptions of online adult undergraduate alumni about what motivated them to persist in their educational pursuits and what recommendations they have for instructors to motivate current students. The conceptual framework that guided this research is Ryan and Deci’s self-determination theory, which explores why humans are motivated to change. For this basic qualitative design, 10 adult undergraduate …

Recent studies suggest that preservice music teacher educators (MTEs) had more experience in assessment preparation at the graduate level than during their undergraduate experience. Although music standards and assessments emphasize providing information about student learning, research investigating what assessment strategies music faculty are using and teaching to prepare preservice MTEs is limited. The purpose of this basic qualitative research study was to address the gap in research regarding assessment strategies used and taught by music faculty across the United States to prepare K–12 preservice MTEs for classroom instruction. The study is grounded in the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation …

The transcendental phenomenological framework guided the study. Individual semistructured interviews were conducted with seven participants who self-identified as managing the tuition discount rate of private HBCUs. Native Americans are disproportionately affected by suicide, with mortality rates that are 2.5 higher than White and non-Hispanic Americans. The purpose of this staff education project was to determine if interactive education of outpatient nursing providers regarding universal screening for suicide risk using the Ask Suicide Screening Questions (ASQ) for patients who are 8 to 11.
