Strategies Used By It Project Managers To Integrate Icts In The Eastern Caribbean, Carl St. Aubin Roberts
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Current practices used to guide information and communication technology (ICT) projects in the Caribbean and developing countries lead to high project failure rates. Project managers must adopt new innovative approaches for transformation towards a 21st-century information society and sustainable digital economies. Grounded in the technology acceptance model (TAM), the purpose of this qualitative multiple-case study was to explore strategies information technology (IT) project managers use to implement IT frameworks designed to guide Caribbean ICT integration. Data were collected from face to face interviews and company documents and analyzed using coding, thematic analysis, and methodological triangulation. The participants were 12 IT …
A Narrative Approach To Understanding Career Attrition For Women Engineers, Brian Merritt Scott
A Narrative Approach To Understanding Career Attrition For Women Engineers, Brian Merritt Scott
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
More women exit the engineering profession than enter, leaving a talent void that incurs lost business value from unrealized business revenues. Without new insights about how to address the continued attrition of women engineers, the profession is unlikely to sustain the human capital needed to achieve competitive advantages through innovation, increased productivity, and improved firm reputation. This qualitative narrative inquiry explored the career attrition phenomenon of six former women engineers in the Northern Tier States region of the United States who left engineering within the past 4 years and were either an engineer-in-training or professional engineer. The conceptual framework for …
Addressing Cardiovascular Disease Among Populations Disproportionately Impacted In The United States, Michael Leron Sells
Addressing Cardiovascular Disease Among Populations Disproportionately Impacted In The United States, Michael Leron Sells
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) causes the most deaths in the United States and is disproportionately impacting certain groups more than others. A gap in the research exists when focusing on national data for those who bear the highest burden of CVD amongst people with hypertension when cardiovascular morbidity and mortality are examined. There is also a need to investigate the relationships between key indicators for CVD health disparities in people with hypertension. The purpose of this quantitative study is to investigate the cumulative effect of key health disparities indicators such as race, age, gender, education, and income using national-level surveillance data …

Hiv Prevention: Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis, Sexual Decision Making, Risk Taking, And Condoms, Jonathan D. Spencer
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
HIV is an infectious disease that continues to have new cases each year within high-risk populations, such as men who have sex with men (MSM). To help in the fight against new HIV infections within the MSM population, new medications such as pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) are being used. The purpose of this cross-sectional online survey study was to address whether PrEP use had any relationship with (a) sexual decision-making, (b) risk-taking, and (c) condom use in the MSM population 18-64 years of age, after controlling for socioeconomic status, race, and age while using the behavioral disinhibition and risk compensation models. …

Adults' Use Of Mobile Learning Environments While Enrolled In General Educational Development Classes, Tia Wilkinson
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Mobile learning environments (MLEs) offer ubiquitous learning opportunities for adults in General Educational Development (GED) programs. However, MLEs have not been integrated into most adult GED programs; therefore, little is known about the experiences of adult learners who use MLEs as part of their education. The purpose of this basic qualitative study was to explore how adult learners described making connections within MLEs, how they perceived learning with MLEs, and how they expanded their use of MLEs. The principles of connectivism provided the conceptual framework for the study. Participants were 11 adult learners in GED programs in a Southern urban …
