Emotional Intelligence, Turnover Intention, And Commitment Among Nonprofit Employees, Tabitha Brewster Jan 2020

Emotional Intelligence, Turnover Intention, And Commitment Among Nonprofit Employees, Tabitha Brewster

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Employee turnover is a persistent problem contributing to financial issues and declining

productivity in nonprofit organizations. Nonprofits cannot fulfill their core missions of

providing services to people in need when managing staffing disruptions. Measuring

employee turnover intention can determine the probability of employee turnover, and a

potential predictor of turnover intention is emotional intelligence, an area unstudied in the

nonprofit sector. This study was designed to explore this relationship, in addition to the

employee's commitment to the organization. The population consisted of 273 nonprofit

employees older than 18 years, working in a nonsupervisory capacity. They completed an

online survey consisting …

Oligarchic Cartelization In Post-Suharto Indonesia, Bonifasius -. Hargens Jan 2020

Oligarchic Cartelization In Post-Suharto Indonesia, Bonifasius -. Hargens

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

A few ruling individuals from party organizations overpowered Indonesia's post-authoritarian, representative democracy. The legislative process of the 2017 Election Act was the case study employed to examine this assumption. The underlying thinking was that there was a contest between “wealth power” (oligarchy) and “participation power” (democracy). The power of wealth controls the party and government institutions. Notwithstanding the presence of participation power, there was, however, no balance between wealth power and participation power, because the formal control of politics was in the hands of party oligarchs. The study purpose was to bridge the gap in knowledge by exploring how the …

Exploring The Effectiveness Of The Psychiatric Emergency Response Team At A Washington State Hospital, Laura Kay Schilling Jan 2020

Exploring The Effectiveness Of The Psychiatric Emergency Response Team At A Washington State Hospital, Laura Kay Schilling

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Patient-to-staff assaults have become a barrier to workplace safety at U.S. psychiatric hospitals. Assaults on staff result in loss of productive social service for the mentally ill; increases in labor, industrial, and medical costs from claims; and psychological scars, such as posttraumatic stress disorder, that may never completely heal. The purpose of this quantitative study was to explore the effectiveness of the Psychiatric Emergency Response Team (PERT) at the Washington state hospital in reducing patient assaults on staff. There is very little research to substantiate the effectiveness of the PERT program as a conduit of workplace safety in psychiatric institutional …

Personality, Job Satisfaction, And Turnover In Long-Term Care Nursing Assistants, Sarah Elizabeth Shanks Jan 2020

Personality, Job Satisfaction, And Turnover In Long-Term Care Nursing Assistants, Sarah Elizabeth Shanks

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

There is a clear association between nursing assistant (NA) turnover and resident outcomes which may be caused by poor compensation, organizational culture, and staffing mix. However, very limited literature is available exploring intrinsic variables of NAs, specifically personality, leading to turnover. Guided by the five-factor personality theory and Herzberg’s two-factor motivation hygiene theory, the purpose of this quantitative study was to examine the relationship between the five-factor personality traits of open-mindedness, conscientiousness, agreeableness, extraversion, and neuroticism; length of employment; and job satisfaction among NAs working in long-term care. The Nursing Home Certified Nursing Assistant Job Satisfaction Questionnaire was used to …

The Influence Of Internalized Self-Prejudice On Anti-Gay Hate Crime Motivation, Ross Michael Templeton

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

The lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, and queer (LGBTQ) community continues to be negatively impacted by high rates of anti-gay hate crime. Gay-rights activists continue to press for public policy changes to improve equality and reduce anti-gay sentiment. However, these efforts have not succeeded in reducing the number of attacks. Little is understood about what motivates perpetrators to commit violent acts against members of the LGBTQ community. This study explored how social coalitions and individual sexual identity development impact the motivation behind anti-gay hate crime from the perspective of convicted anti-gay hate crime offenders. The theoretical frameworks proposed for this study …
