This Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) staff education project implemented a standardized program to strengthen knowledge, confidence, and adherence to venous stasis ulcer (VSU) prevention among staff in an outpatient vascular clinic. The practice problem was the lack of standardized staff education, leading to inconsistent patient teaching and recurrent ulceration. Hospital-acquired pneumonia (HAP) remains the most common hospital-acquired infection in the United States, with nonventilated adult patients particularly at risk. This doctoral project focused on improving oral care practices among night shift nursing staff on a medical-surgical unit to reduce the risk of HAP. The practice gap identified was the inconsistent and inadequate delivery of oral hygiene during night shifts, primarily due to staff knowledge deficits, time constraints, and a lack of standardized procedures. In recent years, greater attention has been paid to the effects of sexual abuse within Christianity. There was a need for greater understanding of the psychological aspect of spiritual abuse within familial dynamics. The purpose of this qualitative study was to describe the phenomenon of emotional spiritual abuse that victims experience within Christian families. Using a theoretical foundation based on Bronfenbrenner's ecological systems theory and Bowen's family systems theory, this study focused on relationships within victims’ microsystem, mesosystem, and exosystem. Mold exposure and menopausal transition have been independently linked to cognitive decline, yet their interaction among socioeconomically disadvantaged populations has not been well examined. This quantitative study is an exploration of how menopausal transition influences the relationship between mold exposure and cognitive health outcomes among women aged 40 to 60 living in low-income housing in the United States. Bronfenbrenner’s ecological systems theory was used to guide the cross-sectional design using secondary data from the 2005–2006 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES; N = 149). In this qualitative phenomenological study, the perceived barriers to services among Hispanic immigrant community members in Southern Connecticut were explored. The study was grounded in social disorganization theory and cultural conflict theory to identify the specific obstacles these communities face, understand the underlying causes, and examine the broader societal and criminal justice implications. Data were collected through open-ended anonymous questionnaires with participants from Hispanic immigrant communities. Inclusive training could benefit both teachers and students with disabilities. Minority students are often omitted from social, economic, cultural, and political life due to ethnicity or poverty, which increases their risk of adverse childhood experiences, such as abuse or neglect, and increases their likelihood of discrimination that can obstruct their normal childhood development, including academic performance. Child-centered play therapy (CCPT) is a multiculturally appropriate approach that creates a safe and nonjudgmental environment, supporting adjustment and coping. However, many school counselors are not using CCPT.
