Reducing Clabsi Rate Among Icu Patients, Rita L. Walker

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Approximately 55% of intensive care unit (ICU) patients require the use of a central venous catheter (CVC). CVCs are often an essential component of care; however, CVCs can create avenues for pathogens to enter the bloodstream and cause a central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI), which can lead to increased mortality and morbidity, prolonged length of stay, increased cost of care, decreased patient satisfaction, and increased workload. In 2017, the CLABSI rate at the project site was 4.3 per 1,000 catheter days as compared to the national rate of 0.8 per 1,000 catheter days. Based on Piaget's theory of constructivism, a …

Relationship Between Liquidity, Asset Quality, And Profitability Of Mortgage Banks In Nigeria, Olabanjo Johnson Obaleye

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Liquidity (LQ) and asset quality (AQ) management present significant challenges to mortgage bankers in their efforts to improve profitability (PR). When liquidity increases, there is no positive impact on mortgage asset growth; however, this trend indicates that asset management and liquidity positions are not well managed. To run a viable mortgage business, mortgage bankers need to have a good grasp of the association between LQ, AQ, and PR. Anchored in the profit theory paradigm, the purpose of this multiple regression study was to examine the relationship between LQ, AQ, and PR of mortgage banks (MBs) in Nigeria. Archival financial data …

Moderating Effect Of Job Level On Work-To-Family Conflict And Job Attitudes, Shanu Loganathan

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Past research has shown the likelihood of work-to-family conflict in employees' struggle to manage work, family, and personal life, however, work-to-family conflict remained unexamined in employees' job attitudes at different job levels. Previous studies highlighted that employees at higher job level experience greater work-to-family conflict than employees at lower job level. The purpose of the study was to examine the moderating effects of job level (supervisory or managerial and nonsupervisory or nonmanagerial) on the relationships between work-to-family conflict and job attitudes (job satisfaction, work engagement, organizational commitment, and turnover intention). In this quantitative study, the theoretical framework included conflict theory …

How Naturalized African-Americans Experience Racial Microaggressions In U.S. Federal Agencies, Casimir Yem Bilong

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

The Civil Rights Act was enacted more than 5 decades ago, and its provisions forbade discrimination on the basis of race in hiring, promoting, and firing. Yet some researchers argue that racial discrimination issues are still prevalent in the United States. They contend that modern racial discrimination is more covert and takes the form of racial microaggressions, which are subtle conscious or unconscious insults and derogatory attitudes directed towards minorities. Researchers have not fully addressed the prevalence of racial microaggressions in U.S. workplaces, however. The purpose of this qualitative phenomenological study was to explore the lived experiences of naturalized African-Americans …
