A Case Study On Social Media As An Effective Management Tool, Appolloh Omolloh
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
In small businesses in the United States, specifically those with fewer than 10 employees,
leaders may be skeptical of and resistant to the use of social media in their management
operations. Management literature does not indicate clear and effective guidelines and
policies detailing small marketing firms use of social media. The purpose of this
qualitative case study was to explore the perceptions of small marketing firm leaders
about the resources and knowledge needed for effective use of social media as a
management tool. Emerson's social exchange theory grounded the study. The study
targeted owners and managers of small marketing firms …

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
HIV incidence among Black men who have sex with men (BMSM) is extremely high in contrast to their estimated population size and compared to other racial groups. Researchers have established that a significant proportion of these new cases annually originate from HIV transmission by BMSM who are unaware of their HIV status. The purpose of the study was to assess the relationship between age, sexual behavior, social support, substance use, internalized homophobia, depression, and HIV test history in BMSM. Guided by the social ecological model (SEM) as the conceptual framework, a quantitative cross-sectional study was designed to analyze secondary data …
Instructional Reading Practices For Third Grade African American Males, Kimberly Dawn Whaley
Instructional Reading Practices For Third Grade African American Males, Kimberly Dawn Whaley
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
African American males often struggle to read on grade level. However, 3 East Texas Title I schools demonstrated exceptionally high levels of reading proficiency with this population. This study addressed the knowledge gap of understanding the instructional practices linked to high reading achievement of third grade African American males in Title I schools in East Texas. Guided by Ladson-Billings's theory of culturally relevant pedagogy, which builds upon academic success, cultural competence, and development of critical consciousness, and supported by Vygotsky's theory of social and cognitive constructivism, the reading instructional practices of the 3 schools were investigated. Research questions focused on …

Association Between Recruiters' Perceptions Of Education Delivery Mode And Applicants' Workplace Readiness, Alan Mark Faingold
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
The academy, its faculty, and recruiters have discordant views about credentialed graduates’ workplace viability. As the powerful gatekeepers between education and the employment market, recruiters’ perceptions of college credentials may dictate applicants’ interview progression. Although nearly 100% of today’s college administrators believe higher education programs prepare students for the workplace, less than 12% of recruiters deem graduates ready to succeed in organizational settings after graduation. The purpose of this study was to investigate differences in recruiters’ perceptions of online and face-to-face higher education credentials as indicators of applicants’ workplace readiness. The theoretical foundation of this study was Spence’s signaling theory …
