The Relationship Between Organizational Knowledge Management Constructs And Organizational Flexibility, Marcus B. Williams
The Relationship Between Organizational Knowledge Management Constructs And Organizational Flexibility, Marcus B. Williams
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
The role that the information technology (IT) department serves is governed by the corporate culture and how it values the use of knowledge, including IT, to achieve a strategic competitive advantage. The purpose of this quantitative study was to examine the potential relationships between information acquisition, knowledge dissemination, shared interpretation, organizational memory, and organizational flexibility. Two theories served as the theoretical foundation for this study: contingency theory and the resource-based view of the firm. To answer the question of possible correlation between organizational flexibility and components of knowledge management, a randomly selected sample of 193 IT professionals employed at small- …
Association Between Dietary Phytoestrogen Intake And Xenoestrogen Exposure And Estrogen-Dependent Cancers, Pisita Bolsue
Association Between Dietary Phytoestrogen Intake And Xenoestrogen Exposure And Estrogen-Dependent Cancers, Pisita Bolsue
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
The role of circulating estrogens and the impact of lifetime exposure to multiple sources of exogenous estrogens as factors in carcinogenesis were not well understood. Research showed conflicting results when dietary phytoestrogen (PE) intake and xenoestrogen (XE) exposure occurred independently and when co-exposed. The purpose of this quantitative cross-sectional study was to investigate the association between dietary PE intake and XE exposure and the development of estrogen-dependent cancers in an epidemiological context. The advanced model of the epidemiology triangle was the theoretical framework for the current study in which binary logistic regression was employed on secondary data from the 2003–2006 …
Improving Student Nurse Clinical Reasoning, Critical Thinking, And Clinical Judgment Through Simulation Debriefing, Deborah Brester
Improving Student Nurse Clinical Reasoning, Critical Thinking, And Clinical Judgment Through Simulation Debriefing, Deborah Brester
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Simulation is an educational strategy in nursing education that incorporates structured activities that depict real-life situations to develop and enhance the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of nursing students by allowing them to analyze and initiate interventions for realistic situations in a simulated environment. Debriefing is a reflective process and is a key component in the simulation education process, but there is a lack of evidence on debriefing methods that enhance learning outcomes in nursing education. This study, which was guided by the National League for Nursing Jeffries simulation theory, was to determine the effect simulation debriefing, as assessed using the …

Parents’ And Teachers’ Perspectives On Quality Communication In A Head Start Program, Danielle Racquel Bryant-Mathurin
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
AbstractResearchers have suggested that active communication between teachers and parents is positively associated with student success in school, specifically in terms of student attendance, performance, and behavior. The problem that inspired this basic qualitative study was the quality of parent-teacher communication in Head Start programs that serve low socioeconomic status (SES) students. The purpose of this basic qualitative study was to examine the quality of parent-teacher communication in a Head Start program that serves low SES students in the northeastern United States and explore how quality of parent-teacher communication might be improved. Ecological systems theory and the communication component of …

Although researchers have studied workplace gaslighting (a devious and manipulative tactic used by abusers) in recent years, little is known about it. The purpose of this hermeneutic phenomenological study was to examine the lived experiences of entry-level employees with gaslighting. The conceptual frameworks for this study were the resilience and posttraumatic growth (PTG) concepts. The sample consisted of currently employed participants ages 20 - 45 with two or more years of college experience who, during their first year in an entry-level position, experienced gaslighting. Semi-structured interviews were conducted via Zoom and data was analyzed and coded manually. The analysis revealed …

AbstractInterpersonal violence (IPV) is a complicated public problem that requires collaborative and coordinated strategies in order to address this issue effectively and appropriately. Although the court system has a significant role in their response, IPV is a complex issue for the justice system to address alone. Court system experiences may significantly impact survivors’ outcomes overall health and well-being. There are a limited number of studies showing that survivor experiences in the court have a significant impact on victim outcomes. The purpose of this study was to describe the lived experiences of female IPV survivors who have encountered IPV, highlighting their …

This study addressed the relationship between learning disabilities and juvenile delinquency from parents’ perspectives. This qualitative study was guided by Agnew’s general strain theory (GST), which explored the force that stressors have on individuals, such as the impact learning disabilities have on juveniles. The qualitative research approach was used to gather data from 10 parents with children diagnosed with learning disabilities at an early age. Parents responded to 15 open-ended survey questions via SurveyMonkey based on their lived experiences of having children with learning disabilities. Participants remained anonymous. Perioperative Nurses' Perceptions And Barriers To Implementing The Colorectal Surgery Care Bundle, Kaydian Kerry-Ann Grant
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
AbstractDespite evidence that surgical care bundle usage prevents surgical site infections (SSIs) in colorectal surgeries, there is a consistent increase in SSIs. Perioperative nurses are in a unique position to provide insight into the process for colorectal surgical care bundle usage, yet little is known about how perioperative nurses view the process. The perioperative patient focused model was used in this qualitative interpretative phenomenological study to examine the perceptions of perioperative nurses regarding the use of colorectal surgery care bundle and its role in preventing SSIs in patients undergoing colon and rectal surgeries. Sixteen perioperative nurses who were members of …

Women’S Lived Experience With Shame In Intimacy After Surviving Childhood Sexual Abuse, Meg Christine Justison
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Childhood sexual abuse (CSA) is a global problem and can lead to substantial challenges in adult intimate relationships. Though there is considerable research on CSA, relationships, and relationship challenges, one area that required further study was how shame was felt by women who have experienced CSA. Interpretive phenomenological analysis (IPA) was used to explore these shame experiences in adult intimate relationships in women who had this history. Strength resilience theory was used as the framework for exploring their shame and resilience experiences. Open-ended, semistructured interviews were conducted with eight women aged 18 to 50 who were in intimate relationships. Results …

The purpose of this study was to determine the predictability of contractual caseload advocacy among California school psychologists and their use of resources to engage in policy-oriented learning strategies. A quantitative research design was used, and data were collected from school psychologists in California (N = 138) who completed an online questionnaire. The theoretical foundation was Sabatier and Jenkins-Smith’s advocacy coalition framework. Ordinal logistic regression indicated that school psychologists’ location and job were not statistically significant predictive factors for advocacy for contractual caseloads. …

Long-Term Psychological Adaptation Of U.S. Human Resource Personnel In Response To The Covid-19 Pandemic, Samantha Ann Denson
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Previous research indicated that the COVID-19 pandemic negatively impacted employee psychological outcomes in various workforce sectors. Although research showed that U.S. human resource (HR) employees experienced unique occupational challenges during the pandemic, the literature did not explore pandemic-related psychological outcomes in this population. This quantitative survey-based study included a purposive sample of 294 U.S. HR professionals to explore the pandemic’s impact on their psychological well-being. The transactional model of stress and coping served as the theoretical framework to understand the independent effects of appraisal, meaning-based coping, and coping efforts on psychological well-being. A mediation analysis was used to understand the …
