The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated many illnesses afflicting older adults in U.S. communities, including mental health wellness. Since 2020, at the inception of the pandemic, older adults living in residential settings, including assisted living and skilled nursing homes, experienced harsh limitations in their everyday lives. The conditions included prolonged periods of isolation and reduced interactions between caregivers and loved ones. Therefore, it is important to understand the experiences of older adults living in facilities and their ability to adapt to the environment. Recruiting and retaining Black educators is a problem in the United States. Research into specific subgroups within this population, such as Black LBGTQ educators, can help identify ways to address this problem. In this qualitative study, five individuals were recruited who self-identified as Black or African American, LGBTQ, hold a current teaching certificate, have taught more than three years, and were 30 years or older. Data were collected from participants through semistructured interviews, and those data were analyzed. Interpretative phenomenological analysis was used to allow for their voices, perspectives, and experiences to be heard directly. Findings revealed 11 themes associated …

The inclusion of jazz studies in the secondary school curriculum varies widely across the United States. School district personnel could miss opportunities to instruct students about cultural diversity, self–expression, and collaboration. The purpose of this basic qualitative study was to explore the experiences of music educators' challenges integrating jazz studies into their curriculum. Elements from constructivism and culturally relevant pedagogy formed the conceptual framework. African immigrant children living in the United States (US) are highly susceptible to medically complex, life-limiting, and life-threatening conditions, including rheumatic heart disease, congenital heart disease, autism, and other neurodevelopmental disabilities. As primary caregivers, mothers frequently need a break from their caregiving responsibilities to experience normalcy, rest, and regenerate their reserves, which is critical to their families’ long-term stability. Research supports that teacher self-efficacy beliefs influence instructional behaviors and the implementation of educational programs. Bandura, based on his social cognitive theory, described teacher self-efficacy beliefs as strong self-regulating factors that influence individual instructional practices. However, there is a lack of empirical information about the influence of these factors on implementation of school-wide positive behavioral interventions and supports (SWPBIS) programs to address student behaviors. Evidence demonstrates that people who are being trafficked will seek medical attention, especially in emergency departments, which presents a rare opportunity to identify and support them. This Doctor of Nursing Project (DNP) was designed to evaluate if educating emergency department nurses on using an adult screening tool for human trafficking improves knowledge in a local emergency department in Texas. Marginal and fluctuating employee engagement levels continue to be a concern among organizations, evidenced by the quest for dynamic solutions and the investigative work observed in the literature. The purpose of this study was to understand the meaning of engagement for employees working in two urban, private-sector companies in Jamaica. AbstractLittle peer-reviewed literature existed on how the transition from face-to-face instruction to emergency remote teaching (ERT), online learning, and blended learning impacted the education of historically Black college and university (HBCU) students amid the Covid-19 pandemic. AbstractThrough the lens of Bronfenbrenner’s bioecological theory, the purpose of the study was to explore African American and African caregivers’ perceptions of autism spectrum disorder (ASD), child development knowledge, religious/traditional beliefs, and fear of stigma within the context of their culture. African and African American children with ASD are identified at later ages than Caucasian children by 1 1/2 to 2 years. Disparities in educational and social outcomes of African and African American children with ASD may be related to this identification delay.
