Lived Experiences And Tuition Discounting Of Private Historically Black Colleges And Universities, Angelia Le Dawn Brooks
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
There has been a decline in tuition revenue for some private historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs); an above-average tuition discount rate may impede the financial performance of private HBCUs. The purpose of this qualitative phenomenological study was to explore the lived experiences of business officers and other employees of private HBCUs managing the tuition discount rate. The transcendental phenomenological framework guided the study. Individual semistructured interviews were conducted with seven participants who self-identified as managing the tuition discount rate of private HBCUs. Data were analyzed using Moustakas’s modified van Kaam method. Six themes emerged from the data analysis: (a) …

Prompting Effective Learning Pathways: Applied Behavior Analysis In Practice, Brandie Ann Kretzschmar
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
The purpose of this quantitative study was to contribute to the literature for prompting interventions in the field of applied behavior analysis (ABA). This study examined the clinical utilization of prompting strategies with verbal operant programming across currently credentialed practitioners. Evidence-based practices are well known, but clinical guidance regarding prompting strategies is still emerging. This gap is potentially related to the lack of a prompting assessment to assist practitioners in creating clients' programming. To collect data a 52-question survey was used in this ethnographic study. Data was collected from 62 respondents, with 55 overall completed surveys. Errorless learning was reported …

Staff Education Project For Adult Icu Nurses, Hani Ayyad
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
This staff education project is a crucial initiative designed to enhance nursing knowledge and skills in the care of central lines. Its overarching goal is to reduce the incidence of central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI) in a teaching hospital. Given that CLABSIs are a major concern in Intensive Care Units (ICUs), due to higher morbidity, mortality, and healthcare expenditures, this project is very important. My goal was to fill these gaps by providing a comprehensive staff education program addressing this critical issue. The evidence-based practice question (EBP) guiding this Doctor of Nursing Project (DNP) project was: Does the Staff Education …

Strategies To Overcome Burnout In Women In Behavioral Health Leadership, Pamela Atueyi
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
The global mental health landscape is currently facing a significant crisis, characterized by an unprecedented surge in patient demand and a concurrent shortage of therapists. This imbalance has led to overwhelmed mental health facilities, prolonged access and wait times for patients, and diminished quality of care. Several factors contribute to this crisis, including the increased prevalence of mental health issues exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, the ongoing stigma surrounding mental health treatment, and systemic problems, such as the lack of training programs, leaders not feeling supported, and low retention rates. This study explored significant burnout levels among women behavioral health …

Pneumonia Pathway’S Effectiveness In Decreasing Length Of Stay In An Acute Care, Marie Carline Hollant
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) can be detrimental to patient outcomes. One major challenge affecting care for CAP is hospital length of stay (HLOS), which is associated with multiple factors, mainly comorbid conditions. One way to improve the efficiency of CAP hospital care is the implementation of pneumonia clinical pathways to ensure effectiveness in application of pneumonia treatment and care. This project evaluated the effectiveness of using pneumonia pathways by evaluating HLOS before and after the health care staff in the project site implemented pneumonia pathways. Use of the pneumonia pathways in the project site started in 2021, but there had not …

Military To Civilian Life: Transition And Reintegration Experiences Of Army Wives, Marquita Crudup
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Researchers have identified that military-to-civilian transition (MCT) and civilian reintegration is a difficult time for military spouses; as veterans receive transitional assistance and benefits to assist with adjustment, the nonveteran family leaves behind a community of supportive peers and resources. Influence Of Incomplete And Unverified Vote-By-Mail Ballots On Mail-In Voting, Susanne Lynne Timmons
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Vote-by-mail (VBM) ballots that were returned inaccurately during past general elections contributed to votes that were not counted in Florida. Since 2016, more than 600,000 mail ballots were not counted in the state; 73,000 were not counted in Broward County, Florida. The problem was that VBM ballots were returned as incomplete due to missing or mismatched signatures and not counted during the election processes. However, it was not known if this issue impacted voter perceptions of VBM voting. The public choice theory was the theoretical framework. The purpose of this qualitative study was to gain an understanding of voter perceptions …
