Creation was once a prerogative of the gods. For ages the magic word "genius" served as a harrier to isolate from the common man that one in whom burned the spark of constructive originality. In the past we have never considered the possibility of his being one of the teeming throng who Invade our classrooms daily; or having given way to such an absurdity, we have hastily dismissed the Idea, feeling that, if he were, his presence would surely be announced by the choir invisible or some other divine agency.

One of the primary functions of our democratic education should be to awaken conscious relationships to out advancing ideals of beauty and to foster an appreciation for the fine arts, which will not only keep life from becoming sordid and existence sensuous, but will prove the sustenance of youth and the delight of old age.

With these ideas in mind, it is the writer’s desire to plead for more and better teaching of the fine arts in our schools, and to urge government aid and support manifested in the establishment of free schools of fine arts throughout the nation.

The first record of such twins, which 18 known, 1s of the Bid-dendent Maids in the year 1100 A. D. From that date to the year 1824 when the Siamese Twins were born and later made famous by Barnum and Bailey's Circus, there have been many Interesting accounts of conjoined twins, but the nature of the present work and the probable unreliability of these accounts would make any discussion on the subject of these early conjoined twins not worth while.

The Sextant in its earliest known form consisted of divided circles and compasses with simply sights. An early Creek astronomer of the second century after Christ, Claudius Ptolemaeus, or more commonly called Ptolemy, wrote a book entitled Megale Syntaxis tes Astron- omias, also known by the Arabic title Almagest. The instrument described in this book was called the Astrolable and was used to measure the angular distance between stars.
