OXFORD, Miss. - After Hurricane Katrina devastated the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 2005, a law student at the University of Mississippi helped start a nationwide network of law students to provide legal aid to victims. OXFORD, Miss. -- The University of Mississippi’s Department of Campus Programming hosts a Holiday Bazaar in the Student Union 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 30). More than 20 vendors from Mississippi and Tennessee plan to offer for sale various items, including pottery, jewelry, purses, wallets, sunglasses, scarves, baskets, candles, stationery, oil paintings and prints, and handmade wooden toys. Dr. Robert Iacono has altered the course of Parkinson's disease in hundreds of patients, and his pioneering work has earned him respect throughout the medical profession. The neurosurgeon discusses his work Thursday (Nov. 30) at the University of Mississippi. A University of Mississippi law professor and his 17-year-old son have co-authored a chapter in the book "The Beatles and Philosophy" (Open Court Publishing Co., 2006). The contribution of Michael and Joseph Hoffheimer discusses the songs of Beatles member George Harrison and argues that Harrison's interest in Eastern philosophy added depth to the Beatles and helped change the course of Western popular culture. Michael Hoffheimer, who teaches criminal law and civil procedure, grew up during the Beatles' era. His son Joseph is a senior at Oxford High School.
