Steady State Hydroplaning Risk Analysis And Evaluation Of Unsteady State Effects, Menna Yassin
Steady State Hydroplaning Risk Analysis And Evaluation Of Unsteady State Effects, Menna Yassin
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Hydroplaning is a major concern on high speed roadways during heavy rainfall events. Hydroplaning tools are widely used by designers to reduce their roadway’s hydroplaning potential, therefore reducing the possibilities of severe crashes. This dissertation presents two methodologies for improving the prediction of hydroplaning potential.
The first phase focused on improving an existing widely used software called PAVDRN. Using multiple datasets from the Florida Department of Transportation, the author filtered the data using specific criteria to leave only truly dynamic hydroplaning crashes. The author then evaluated PAVDRN’s prediction capabilities and assessed its reliability in predicting a hydroplaning crash. Using past …

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Recently, the railway pavement structure system, as an integral part of the transport infrastructure, has been under fast development in some countries such as China, Turkey, and some European Union countries, particularly for the use of high-speed trains. In designing and constructing the railway pavement structure, it is necessary to take into account the infrastructure demand of the High-Speed Railway Lines (HSRL). Compared to traditional railway trains, HSRL can cause more significant problems to the ballast or base layer of commonly used ballasted railway pavements. The deteriorated ballast or base layer may further result in substructure degradation that may cause …

Measuring Flowering Phenology And Its Consequences: A Systematic Review, Samantha M. Mangum
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Despite growing interest in flowering phenology among ecologists, as reflected by an increase in the number of papers, there is little information on how studies typically measure and describe a plant’s flowering phenology. The focus of this study was the literature on flowering phenology and the approaches researchers have taken to quantify flowering phenology. Initially, a comprehensive description of the breath of literature on flowering phenology was produced. From there, I described the current research on flowering phenology: the year that the studies were published, the locations of the studies, and the particular biomes where the studies were performed. The …
Generalized Derivations Of Ternary Lie Algebras And N-Bihom-Lie Algebras, Amine Ben Abdeljelil
Generalized Derivations Of Ternary Lie Algebras And N-Bihom-Lie Algebras, Amine Ben Abdeljelil
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
We generalize the results of Leger and Luks and other researchers about generalized derivations to the cases of ternary Lie algebras and n-BiHom Lie algebras. We investigate the derivations algebras of ternary Lie algebras induced from Lie algebras, we explore the subalgebra of quasi-derivations and give their properties. Moreover, we give a classification of the derivations algebras for low dimensional ternary Lie algebras.
For the class of n-BiHom Lie algebras, we study the algebras of generalized derivations and prove that the algebra of quasi-derivations can be embedded in the derivation algebra of a larger n-BiHom Lie algebra.
New Gta’S And The Pre-Semester Orientation: The Need For Informed Refinement, Jessica L. Griffith
New Gta’S And The Pre-Semester Orientation: The Need For Informed Refinement, Jessica L. Griffith
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
In a First Year Composition (FYC) setting, many courses are taught by graduate assistants, regardless of if these instructors are truly qualified to teach. Incoming instructors must balance their roles as students with that of brand-new teachers, with each of them attempting to incorporate their own pedagogical approach. Therefore, it would benefit FYC programs to have a solid training program in place, specifically with the pre-semester orientation, in order to smoothly transition these new instructors.
To clarify, this is not to suggest that many programs are not already strong. It does suggest that programs must adapt to the changing climate …

Intrusion Detection systems plays a crucial role in detecting malicious activities that deteriorate the performance of the network. Mobile AdHoc Networks (MANETs) and Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are a type of wireless networks that can deliver data without any need of infrastructure for their operation. The distributed nature of these networks and the limited resources available, pose a huge challenge for the security of a network. The need for an IDS that can adapt with such challenges is of utmost importance.
Two IDS schemes are presented in this dissertation; the first scheme is based on utilizing the promiscuous mode based …
Contribution Of Retrotransposons To Breast Cancer Malignancy, Isaac D. Raplee
Contribution Of Retrotransposons To Breast Cancer Malignancy, Isaac D. Raplee
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
The components contributing to cancer progression, especially the transition from early to invasive are unknown. Consequently, the biological reasons are unclear as to why some patients diagnosed with atypia and ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) never progress into invasive breast cancer. The “one gene at a time” approach does not sufficiently predict progression. To elucidate the early stage progression to invasive ductal cancer, expression signature of transcripts and transposable elements in micropunched samples of formalin-fixed, paraffin embedded (FFPE) tissue was conducted. A bioinformatics pipeline to analyze poor quality, short reads (>36 nts) from RNA-Seq data was created to compare …

Phase Evolution And Dynamic Behavior In Materials With Noncollinear Spin Textures, Eleanor M. Clements
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Noncentrosymmetric magnetic materials have gained special attention due to their ability to stabilize topologically nontrivial magnetic states via the competition between symmetric exchange and the antisymmetric Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) interaction. The spin struc- tures in these materials have become a center of interest for spintronics applications due to their stable, particle-like properties, and high degree of tunability via control of external parameters, such as magnetic and/or electric field and temperature. Understanding how these robust magnetic structures stabilize, evolve, dynamically respond, and adhere to existing models, all in the presence of external stimuli, are topics of fundamental interest. In this dissertation, the …
