The Compact Metric Space Of The Lattice Of Varieties And ^{*}-Varieties Of C^{*}-Algebras, G. Khalilzadeh, Mohammad Hasan Faroughi
The Compact Metric Space Of The Lattice Of Varieties And ^{*}-Varieties Of C^{*}-Algebras, G. Khalilzadeh, Mohammad Hasan Faroughi
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
Variety of Banach algebras is a non-empty class of Banach algebras in which there exist a family of laws such that all of its members satisfy all of the laws. In this paper, we have used merely mathematical items such as Banach algebras and varieties including Banach algebras in order to change the space of all varieties of Banach algebras into a compact metric space. We prove some theorems in the metric space of zero at infinity varieties, define the ^*-varieties of ^{*}-algebra and prove many theorems about ^*-varieties of C^*-algebras.

Equilibria In A Dipersal Model For Structured Populations, Maref Y. M. Alzoubi
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
We derive a model for structured population with a two-phase life cycle. Growth and reproduction occur during the first phase. The first phase is followed by a dispersal phase in which individuals are allowed to move throughout a habitat. Also, we prove the existence of a branch of positive equilibria using bifurcation results of Rabinowitz.

Induced Mappings On Boolean Algebras Of Clopen Sets And On Projections Of The C^*-Algebra C(X), Ahmed Al-Rawashdeh, Wasfi Shatanawi
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
For a compact space X, any group automorphism \varphi of C(X,S^1) induces a mapping \Theta on the Boolean algebra of the clopen subsets of X. We prove that the disjointness of \Theta equivalent to \theta_{\varphi} is an orthoisomorphism on the sets of projections of the C^*-algebra C(X), when \varphi(-1)=-1. Indeed, \Theta is a Boolean isomorphism iff \theta_{\varphi} preserves the product of projections. If X is equipped with a probability measure \mu, on a certain \sigma-algebra of X, we show (under some condition) that \Theta preserves the disjoint of clopen subsets, up to sets of measure zero, or equivalently, the mapping …

Some Remarks On The L^P - L^Q Boundedness Of Uc_{\Varphi}, M. R. Jabbarzadeh
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
In this paper we will consider the weighted composition operators between two different L^p-spaces and then we characterize the functions u and transformations \varphi that induce weighted composition operator uC_{\varphi} between L^p(X, \Sigma, \mu)-spaces by using some properties of conditional expectation operator, pair (u, \varphi) and the measure space (X, \Sigma, \mu).

On The Unique Continuation Property For The Higher Order Nonlinear Schrödinger Equation With Constant Coefficients, Vanilde Bisognin, Octavio Paulo Vera Villagran
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
We solve the unique continuation property: If u is a solution of the higher order nonlinear Schrödinger equation with constant coefficients with t_1 < t_2 which is sufficiently smooth and such that supp u( . , t_j) \subset (a, b), -\infty < a < b < \infty, j = 1, 2, then u \equiv 0.
Steepness In Natural Exponential Families, Afif Masmoudi
Steepness In Natural Exponential Families, Afif Masmoudi
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
The present paper studies and develops the notion of steepness in multivariate natural exponential families. Let F = \{P(m,F); m \in M_F\} be a multidimensional natural exponential family parameterized by its domain of the means M_F and let \overline{m} be an element of \partial M_F the means domain boundary. A necessary and sufficient condition for the variance function V_F is established so that the family F be steep at \overline{m} \in \partial M_F. Some characteristic properties of a steep family are given. Also, we investigate the asymptotic behaviour of a steep family F at \overline{m}.

Multipliers And The Relative Completion In L_W^P(G), Cenap Duyar, A. Turan Gürkanli
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
Quek and Yap defined a relative completion à for a linear subspace A of L^p(G), 1 \leq p < \infty ; and proved that there is an isometric isomorphism, between Hom_{L^1(G)}(L^1(G), A) and Ã, where Hom_{L^1(G)}(L^1(G),A) is the space of the module homomorphisms (or multipliers) from L^1(G) to A. In the present, we defined a relative completion à for a linear subspace A of L_w^p(G) ,where w is a Beurling's weighted function and L_w^p(G) is the weighted L^p(G) space, ([14]). Also, we proved that there is an algeabric isomorphism and homeomorphism, between Hom_{L_w^1(G)} (L_w^1(G),A) and Ã. At the end of this work we gave some applications and examples.

The Construction Of Maximum Independent Set Of Matrices Via Clifford Algebras, Nedi̇m Deği̇rmenci̇, Nüli̇fer Özdemi̇r
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
In [1], [2] and [6] the maximum number of some special type n x n matrices with elements in F whose nontrivial linear combinations with real coefficients are nonsingular is studied where F is the real field R, the complex field C or the skew field H of quaternions. In this work we construct such matrices explicitly by using representations of Clifford algebras. At the end we give some analogues of the celebrated theorem of Radon-Hurwitz.

Turkish Journal of Mathematics
Let A_p denote the class of functions of the form f(z) = z^p+a_{p+1}z^{p+1}+a_{p+2}z^{p+2}+ ··· which are regular and p-valent in the open unit disc D = {z : z < 1}. Let M_p(\alpha) be the subclass of A_p consisting of functions f(z) which satisfy Re ( z \frac{f'(z)}{f(z)}) < \alpha, (z \in D) for some real \alpha (\alpha > 1). The aim of this paper is to give a representation theorem, a distortion theorem and a coefficient inequality for the class M_p(\alpha).
Estimates For Fourier Transform Of Measures Supported On Singular Hypersurfaces, Isroil A. Ikromov
Estimates For Fourier Transform Of Measures Supported On Singular Hypersurfaces, Isroil A. Ikromov
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
We consider hypersurfaces S \subset \RR^3 with zero Gaussian curvature at every ordinary point with surface measure dS and define the surface measure d\mu = \psi(x)dS(x) for smooth function \psi with compact support. We obtain uniform estimates for the Fourier transform of measures concentrated on such hypersurfaces. We show that due to the damping effect of the surface measure the Fourier transform decays faster than O( \xi ^{-1/h}), where h is the height of the phase function. In particular, Fourier transform of measures supported on the exceptional surfaces decays in the order O( \xi ^{-1/2}) (as \xi \to +\infty).

Let K be one of the fields R or C, A a topological associative algebra over K with separately continuous multiplication, B a subalgebra of A and M a closed maximal regular left (right or two-sided) ideal of A such that the trace M \cap B of M is a proper subset of B. In cases, when B is a Gelfand-Mazur subalgebra of A or a subalgebra of the centre Z(A) of A, such classes of topological algebras in which M \cap B (in the subset topology) is a closed maximal regular left (respectively, right or two-sided) ideal of B, …

Commutators, Words, Conjugacy Classes And Character Methods, Aner Shalev
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
In this survey paper we show how character methods can be used to solve a wide range of seemingly unrelated problems. These include commutators, powers of conjugacy classes and related random walks, as well as word maps and Waring type problems. In particular we describe recent progress made on conjectures of Ore, of Thompson, and of Lulov and Pak. New open problems and conjectures are also stated.
Centralizers In Locally Finite Groups, Pavel Shumyatsky
Centralizers In Locally Finite Groups, Pavel Shumyatsky
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
The topic of the present paper is the following question. Let G be a locally finite group admitting an automorphism \phi of finite order such that the centralizer C_G(\phi) satisfies certain finiteness conditions. What impact does this have on the structure of the group G? Equivalently, one can ask the same question when \phi is an element of G. Sometimes the impact is quite strong and the paper is a survey of results illustrating this phenomenon. In particular, we concentrate on results where G is shown to have a large nilpotent or soluble subgroup. Naturally, in each case the result …
Hartley´S Theorem On Representations Of The General Linear Groups And Classical Groups, A. E. Zalesski
Hartley´S Theorem On Representations Of The General Linear Groups And Classical Groups, A. E. Zalesski
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
We suggest a new proof of Hartley's theorem on representations of the general linear groups GL_n(K) where K is a field. Let H be a subgroup of GL_n(K) and E the natural GL_n(K)-module. Suppose that the restriction E _H of E to H contains a regular KH-module. The theorem asserts that this is then true for an arbitrary GL_n(K)-module M provided dim M>1 and H is not of exponent 2. Our proof is based on the general facts of representation theory of algebraic groups. In addition, we provide partial generalizations of Hartley's theorem to other classical groups.
Black Box Groups, Şükrü Yalçinkaya
Black Box Groups, Şükrü Yalçinkaya
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
We propose a uniform approach for recognizing all black box groups of Lie type which is based on the analysis of the structure of the centralizers of involutions. Our approach can be viewed as a computational version of the classification of the finite simple groups. We present an algorithm which constructs a long root SL_2(q)-subgroup in a finite simple group of Lie type of odd characteristic, then we use the Aschbacher's ``Classical Involution Theorem'' as a model in the recognition algorithm and we construct all root SL_2(q)-subgroups corresponding to the nodes in the extended Dynkin diagram, that is, we construct …

Lightlike Hypersurfaces Of Semi-Euclidean Spaces Satisfying Curvature Conditions Of Semisymmetry Type, Bayram Şahi̇n
Lightlike Hypersurfaces Of Semi-Euclidean Spaces Satisfying Curvature Conditions Of Semisymmetry Type, Bayram Şahi̇n
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
In this paper, we investigate lightlike hypersurfaces which are semi-symmetric, Ricci semi-symmetric, parallel or semi-parallel in a semi-Euclidean space. We obtain that every screen conformal lightlike hypersurface of the Minkowski spacetime is semi-symmetric. For higher dimensions, we show that the semi-symmetry condition of a screen conformal lightlike hypersurface reduces to the semi-symmetry condition of a leaf of its screen distribution. We also obtain that semi-symmetric and Ricci semi-symmetric lightlike hypersurfaces are totally geodesic under certain conditions. Moreover, we show that there exist no non-totally geodesic parallel hypersurfaces in a Lorentzian space.

Extreme Points Of Certain Subsets Of Hermitian Elements In Banach Algebras, Gerd Herzog, Christoph Schmoeger
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
We consider the real Banach spaces H(A) of all hermitian elements of a complex Banach algebra A. We prove that if an even power of a \in N(A) is hermitian, then a is an extreme point of the unit ball of H(A) if and only if a^2 = 1. Moreover, if an odd power of a \in H(A) is hermitian and a is an extreme point of the unit ball of H(A), then a^3 = a.

Higher Order Generalization Of Positive Linear Operators Defined By A Class Of Borel Measures, Oktay Duman
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
In the present paper, we introduce a sequence of linear operators, which is a higher order generalization of positive linear operators defined by a class of Borel measures studied in [2]. Then, using the concept of A-statistical convergence we obtain some approximation results which are stronger than the aspects of the classical approximation theory.
