Turkish Journal of Chemistry

In continuation of our interest in identifying new α-glucosidase inhibitors with potential to become antidiabetic drugs, this work focuses on the study of 4-(dimethylaminoalkyl)piperazine-1-carbodithioate derivatives as α-glucosidase inhibitors. The eight heterocyclic piperazine-dithiocarbamate complexes studied in this work contain a variety of substitutions on their benzene ring exhibiting potent, noncompetitive inhibition of α-glucosidase. Dithiocarbamate and piperazine moieties are important pharmacophores with promising therapeutic prospects featuring facilitated drug delivery due to their lipophilic nature in addition to their α-glucosidase inhibitory activity. Enzyme kinetics, molecular dynamics simulations, and docking studies revealed that the target compounds bind to a new allosteric site that is …

Ketoprofen (KET) is an active pharmaceutical compound that has pain relieving and antipyretic effects. Its determination in body fluids and environmental waters is important due to widespread use of the compound. In this study, a selective and reliable method has been developed for the determination of ketoprofen in water and artificial serum using molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) as a solid phase extraction sorbent prior to HPLC-DAD detection. The MIP was synthesized by copolymerization of methacrylic acid (MAA) and trimethylpropane trimethacrylate (TRIM) in the presence of ketoprofen as the template. For the sake of comparison, nonimprinted polymer (NIP) was also synthesized …

The synthesis of ZnFe2O4 nanoparticles was performed using the solution combustion method with three types of fuel, namely urea, glycine, and ethylenediamine tetra-acetic acid (EDTA) with precursors (Zn(NO3)2.6H2O and Fe(NO3)3.9H2O. The combustion process was conducted in an open space at 300 °C for ± 1 h, resulting in a brownish-black ZnFe2O4. Meanwhile, the fuel type used in the process affects the physicochemical properties of ZnFe2O4. XRD analysis showed that ZnFe2O4 synthesized using urea, glycine, …
