his non-experimental correlation study examined the relationship between teacher self-efficacy and student achievement. The participants were elementary teachers and their students in grades 3-5. Teachers' self-efficacy was measured by teacher responses from Tschannen-Moran & Hoy's Teacher Sense of Efficacy Scale. Student achievement scores were obtained from the 2018-2019 New York State English Language Arts and Mathematics Assessments. Other factors such as teaching experience and teacher evaluation were variables in this study. Simple linear regressions and one-way ANOVAs were conducted to look closely at the relationships between the variables. Public districts increasingly depend on special-education paraprofessionals to sustain inclusion, yet turnover disrupts instruction, teams, and student support. This qualitative single-district case study examined how leadership, teacher collaboration, and system routines shape retention in a suburban district in the Northeastern United States. The institutional and environmental differences may impact students' learning as they navigate a complex transition year. This non-experimental ex post facto study examined whether school type, community, and school factors were associated with the academic proficiency of sixth-graders in English Language Arts and Mathematics in New York State. Early identification of reading difficulties is critical for improving literacy outcomes. Nonsense word fluency (NWF) assessments are widely used to evaluate early decoding skills, yet traditional consonant-vowel-consonant (CVC) probes may not fully capture students’ decoding abilities. This study examines whether an advanced NWF probe incorporating consonant blends and digraphs better predicts oral reading fluency (ORF) than the traditional CVC-based probe. This case study examined stakeholders’ perceptions of homework’s impact on elementary students’ emotional well-being and examined district policy structures designed to support student mental health. Grounded in John Sweller’s Cognitive Load Theory, the study explored how intrinsic, extraneous, and germane cognitive loads interact to elicit a range of emotional responses to homework. The researcher collected data through principal interviews, teacher focus groups, and parent surveys at the Long Island School District. My dissertation includes two projects, centered on transcription regulation by checkpoint kinases of the DNA damage response (DDR). The first project focused on the role of checkpoint kinase Mec1p in transcription termination and regulation of the torpedo exonuclease Rat1p. Termination, closely linked with pre-mRNA 3’ processing, dissociates RNA polymerase II (RNAPII) from DNA and releases the nascent RNA transcript. Efficient termination is required for maintaining a pool of RNAPII that is available for re-entry into new transcription cycle. Disability And Demographic Influences On Advanced Placement Calculus Performance: A Quantitative Analysis, Edward J. Storck

This quantitative study examined equity in Advanced Placement (AP) Calculus outcomes for students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in New York State. Using statewide data from 16,457 AP Calculus AB and BC exam takers in 2023, the study investigated whether disability status, race/ethnicity, economic status, and English language proficiency predicted performance and the likelihood of passing. Findings revealed that disability status was not a statistically or practically significant predictor of AP Calculus outcomes; students with IEPs performed comparably to peers without IEPs once enrolled. No significant interaction effects were found between disability status and other demographic variables, suggesting that students …

This study examined the evolution of diversity in children’s literature published between 1950 and 2024, focusing on how representations of race, ethnicity, gender, and socioeconomic status have changed over time and how these shifts align with major sociopolitical movements. This mixed-methods study evaluated the relationship between rating of perceived exertion (RPE) and heart rate (HR) among high school weight-training students during circuit training sessions. The purpose of this study was to determine whether RPE could serve as a practical method for gauging moderate to vigorous physical activity (MVPA) among high school weight-training students while allowing students to assess and enhance their health-related components of fitness. This thesis develops and evaluates a deep learning-based prediction model capable of identifying intended limb movement from surfaced electromyography (sEMG) signals using sequence learning techniques. sEMG signals change over time due to multiple factors such as muscle fatigue or user variability. Traditional prosthetics control methods rely on static feature extraction, ignoring how signals change over time, thereby limiting their ability to capture the temporal changes of muscle activity. This article examines how negative media portrayals of Black Americans have harmed their mental health. It traces the impact of persistent stereotypes and the lack of recognition for Black achievements in the media. Each chapter explores how media—from social media to movies—reinforces outdated stereotypes originating in the antebellum era and discusses how Black Americans have challenged these narratives to assert their identity. The article also highlights positive shifts in representation within the media industry, as well as research on how racial discrimination and media depictions influence the mental health and self-esteem of Black adolescents.

Wilfred Owen, a soldier-poet who fought in World War I, is often labeled an anti-war poet, with some claiming that he was against the war in its entirety. This thesis explores the opinion that Owen is not an anti-war poet but rather that he wrote against anti-pro-war rhetoric. This includes all types of pro-war rhetoric influential in England for recruitment purposes but mainly focuses on poetry that would be published in newspapers for everyday readers to see. This study examined the implementation of Thinking Maps® as a literacy instructional intervention for students in grades four and five. Using an explanatory sequential mixed-methods design, the study investigated the effect of Thinking Maps® on student achievement, changes in students’ literacy-related work products, and teachers’ perceptions of the strategy. This thesis presents a systematic empirical evaluation of quantum machine learning performance under noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) era constraints. Through 670 controlled experiments, it evaluated quantum kernel support vector machines and variational quantum classifiers against classical baselines on MNIST binary and multiclass classification tasks with systematic variation of problem difficulty, feature dimensionality (4, 8 qubits), and training set size (n ∈{100, 250, 400, 500, 2000, 4000}).
