There was a lack of concrete information concerning the influence of the ward education committee on enrolling students in seminary. Therefore, a study which would evaluate the influence of ward education committees on seminary enrollment was undertaken. This study attempted to determine the influence of ward education committees on enrollment of non-released time seminaries.

This thesis is a study of the degree of relationship that marriage role expectations of adolescents of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has to sex, church activity, parent's education, employment of mother, and ordinal position.
The major objectives were: (a) to determine if male adolescents would have a higher traditional score than female adolescents on the marriage role expectation inventory; and (b) to determine if marriage role expectations of adolescents are related to sex, church activity, parent's education, employment of mother, and ordinal position.

An Analysis Of Old Testament Chronology In The Light Of Modern Scripture And Scientific Research, Dale Alder Mcallister

The first objective of this thesis was to examine the Old Testament chronology carefully to see how it is computed. The second objective was to examine the modern scriptures to see what contributions they make in establishing a more accurate, reliable chronology. The third objective was to examine certain hypotheses in archaeology, carbon dating processes, and geology that seem to conflict with the Old Testament chronology with the purpose in mind of learning how accurate their findings are and what possibilities exist for a closer harmony between these sciences and the Old Testament scriptural chronology.

Research of the relationship between orthodoxy and prejudice is not clear. Some studies report those who acknowledge church membership to be less tolerant than those who do not. Other investigators find either slight differences or no differences among the attitudes of members of different religions. Still others find important differences in acceptance of orthodox religious beliefs and attitudes toward minority groups.

This course has been written to present a simplified version of the Book of Mormon for use with students whose reading skills are below average. It was specifically designed for released-time Indian seminary students. The Indian students often find it very hard to compete with white students in seminary. Where this problem exists teachers have found it advisable to form all-Indian classes.

Released-time Indian seminary classes are a recent addition to the L.D.S. Seminary system. In the 1962-63 school year two such classes were held. The future holds promise that many more will be instituted. Teaching the Book of Mormon …

Abraham Alonzo Kimball was born of Heber C. Kimball and his plural wife, Clarissa Cutler Kimball, in Nauvoo, Hancock County, Illinois on April 16, 1846. At this time the Mormons were being expelled from Nauvoo so young Abe was taken to Winter Quarters with the major portion of the Mormon refugees. Clarissa Cutler Kimball refused to come West with the Mormons. Instead, she took her young son to Iowa to join a break-off church founded by her father, Alpheus Cutler, called the True Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This study was undertaken for the purpose of determining the effectiveness of L.D.S. Seminary-oriented home night program. The home night program consisted of an experimental group of students holding weekly home nights with their parents, following discussion of gospel principles in Seminary during the school hours. A control group was established which supplemented its program writing weekly summaries instead of directing a home night.

A general survey of the vegetational changes of the rangelands of the Uinta Basin was made using historical records, documents, interviews, and recent vegetational surveys. Historical vegetatienal information about the Uinta Basin is very limited, most of it pertaining to the vegetation along the streams and rivers. Escalante, in 1776, mentioned the splendid groves of cottonwoods, the fine pastures, and the abundance of game along the rivers. Ashley in 1825 and Powell in 1870 entered the Basin via the Green River. Ashley crossed the Basin following the Duchesne River and its tributary the Strawberry River. He described the groves of …

The Structural And Stratigraphic Relationships In The Paleozoic Rocks Of Eastern North Dakota, Frederick V. Ballard

The thickness and areal extent of the commonly defined Paleozoic rock units in eastern North Dakota has been determined by a study of mechanical well logs. Isopachous wops of these units reveal several positive areas which persisted and influenced sedimentation and unit thickness throughout most of the Paleozoic Era. Precambrian topographic highs of either erosional or structural origin produced those influences in early Paleozoic time, whereas later effects resulted from periodic structural rejuvenation of the original highs. The activity of those highs appears to be related to the location of the basin depocenter. The most prominent highs were in Cavalier, …

The Fox Hills Formation in Emmons County, North Dakota, consists of 250-350 feet of medium to fine grained sand and sandstone with some shale interbeds. In Emmons County, the four members, Trail City, Timer Lake, Bullhead, and Colgate are not as distinct lithologically as they are in the areas from which they were described; thus, the unit has been subdivided into a lower part consisting of crossbedded sand and sandstone with calcareous, fossiliferous concretions and an upper part consisting of interbeds of buff sand and chocolate shale.
