This study was designed to improve understanding of the motion of air bubbles in water, in order to make possible more precise mass transfer calculations.

An accurate, low cost photographic technique was developed for studying the trajectory of air bubbles rising unrestrained in water.

The effect of several variables on velocity and direction of bubble movement was studied. These include: equivalent bubble radius; temperature; contamination; release pressure; vessel size, shape and construction material, and orientation and size of the capillary tube from which the bubbles were released.

Leonardite has been considered as a substitute for bentonite as an iron ore pellet binder since it would impart less undesirable impurities to the iron ore. In the case of leonardite, pellet binding strength is believed to be derived from the formation of leonardite- water gel systems. In this respect, the gels formed by addition of sodium hydroxide ("sodium gels") or sodium hydroxide and calcium hydroxide ("calcium gels") to leonardite-water slurries are of interest. Samuel Brannan has almost become a legend in the history of the American West. Having led a group of Mormons around the Horn to California in 1846, he became a business and political leader in early California. He gained great wealth in speculation and merchandising, and is noted for his activities in the Vigilance Committee of 1851, his part in heralding the gold rush, and his developments in Calistoga and elsewhere.
Although much has been written about Brannan, very little of it deals with the last years of his life. Very little factual information has been available on his activities …

The 1900 elections have been little touched in historical studies of Utah. However 1900 was a year of special interest and deserves an examination. In that year a Special Election was held, all state offices were up for renewal and a Presidential Election took place.

The special election was necessary because B. H. Roberts had been denied his seat in the United States Congress. Roberts was excluded because he was a polygamist. The purpose of this research and study was to evaluate the use of selected Book of Mormon filmstrips and determine their value in teaching Book of Mormon history. New impetus to use filmstrips was received with the announcement that the Department of Seminaries and Institutes of Religion had produced eighteen filmstrips using episodes from Book of Mormon history. The Department was desirous that the filmstrips be utilized in the most effective way by teachers in meeting the individual needs of students in this course of religious instruction.

This section is a statement on the reason behind my conducting archeological excavations in West Canyon. In light of the large collections which had come out of the area, it was deemed important to excavate before any further destruction of sites in the canyon took place in order to establish, if possible, the cultural affiliations of the prehistoric inhabitants of that area. It was felt before excavation began that there was enough evidence already on hand to suggest Fremont culture affiliation, but this was not sufficient to demonstrate the same with confident conclusiveness.

Recent studies have indicated that although the Institutes of Religion of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints are generally successful in reaching their objectives, they have much to profit from adaptation of new teaching techniques. It has been observed that not all L.D.S. Seminary students are active in church attendance. There is little doubt in the minds of educators that parents affect a great deal the activities of their children.

The purpose of the study was to learn what relationship, if any, existed between a seminary student's church attendance and the church activities of his parents, and to find out which, if any, of five specific areas of parental church activity had the most positive effect on a student's church attendance.
