To validate the accuracy of the FEA ABAQUS software, the cylindrical tanks are considered for both static linear buckling, non-linear, as well as dynamic (seismic non-linear) analysis. A total of 3 cylindrical shells having 1 perfect model without carbon fiber reinforced …
Administering Psychological Tele-Assessment: A Delphi Study, Amanda Willyard Walkowiak
Administering Psychological Tele-Assessment: A Delphi Study, Amanda Willyard Walkowiak
Theses and Dissertations
The Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak increased demand for telehealth services for mental health providers (Zhou et al., 2020). To our knowledge, conducting psychological assessments through tele-health platforms has limited empirical and ethical support (Wright et al., 2020; Stifel et al., 2020; American Psychological Association [APA], 2020a). Moving from traditional to remote testing administration requires preparation, training, and practice (Joint Task Force for the Development of Telepsychology Guidelines for Psychologists [Telepsychology Task Force], 2013; Wright et al., 2020). Even if psychologists have access to test materials and the necessary technology to conduct tele-assessments, they may not have the training and clinical …

The Role Of Shareholder Derivative Lawsuits In Accounting: Impacts On Corporate Information Quality And Audit Fee Determination, Md Zubair Zuven
Theses and Dissertations
This dissertation consists of two essays on shareholder derivative lawsuit issues in accounting. In the first essay, I investigate the causal effect of shareholder litigation rights on information quality by using the staggered adoption of universal demand (UD) laws as an exogenous variation in litigation risk. My empirical findings from the difference-in-differences methodology align with the theory that shareholder litigation risk plays a deterrence role and acts as a corporate governance mechanism. I find a significant drop in information quality measures for firms incorporated in states that adopted UD laws, which is consistent with the notion that higher (lower) shareholder …

Theses and Dissertations
This dissertation consists of two essays on corporate finance. In my first essay, I investigate the effect of the top management team (TMT) political heterogeneity on the CEO’s ability to implant her/his ideology onto the firm’s CSR policies. We present evidence that a CEO’s ideology can shape CSR policies only in the existence of a politically homogeneous TMT. This result is robust to the use of the propensity score matching (PSM) approach to address selection bias, the instrumental variable (IV) approach to address endogeneity, and Oster’s test to address omitted variables bias. Further analysis shows that the association between CSR …
Recognizing Triangles Using Weighted Ehrhart Polynomials, Rafael Sarabia
Recognizing Triangles Using Weighted Ehrhart Polynomials, Rafael Sarabia
Theses and Dissertations
Ehrhart theory is a classical topic for polygons or polytopes with vertices with integer coordinates. One of the main results of the theory claims that for every convex polygon P with integer vertices, the number of integer points in its nth dilation is a polynomial in n, the Ehrhart polynomial of P. This property can be extended if for a polynomial weight w(x, y), we sum values of w(x, y) over all points with integer coordinates in the nth dilation of P. The resulted polynomial is called the weighted Ehrhart polynomial of P associated with the weight w. In this …
